Matt Sekeres: "Jim ... some are saying this is a very strange selection ... what say you?"
Benning: "well its like ... we want a real meat and potatoes guy with this first overall pick"

I certainly can and the fallout would be a tampering charge filed by the UFC - When reporters ask Jim about it, he replies with "I can't talk about guys belonging to other sport leagues".

If I read the box score correctly I see Patrick Maroon got a hat trick tonight and also got into a fight.

Wow did the Oilers screw up on the Lucic signing when they already had a better and much cheaper version of him. What a bunch of maroons.

/although bar fighting skills are an underrated intangible

So, for some unknown reason, the Oilers kept PullyourRV on the roster for 40 games thereby burning a year towards his UFA status...and now they send him down because Oilers?

As esls said earlier, the Oil already had the big power forward they needed in Patrick Maroon, but hey, I'm enjoying the process (lol)

I would thank Chiarelli for saving Benning from himself (and canucks fans) by signing Looch but I know if he ever made "the call", benning would answer :pout:

I wonder how much McJesus will be making per season once his ELC is over? 11 million per? 12 million per?
I'm kinda convinced at this juncture that until the cap jumps $10-20 mil/yr no player is ever going to demand over the $10.5 mil cap hit that Toews/Kane have. The GM is always going to argue that doing so will destroy the team's cap and that while the player can go elsewhere and get that extra mil or two a year he'll never play on a contender.

Of course, that just might be Connor's ticket outta Edmonton.

DEFENDER OF THE COIL chimes in

He does know that Pull your RV would have to agree to said 6 year deal, right? And because it eats up all his prime UFA years, he'll want to be overpaid, right? This Spector doesn't actually draw a salary, right? RIGHT?

Not that I'm not hoping to see that too, but if you look at where they are, I think they're in pretty good shape to back into a PO spot.

With the Pacific currently holding both wildcards and looking at who is trailing for those, they really need to drop another 3 spots in the division unless either Dallas or Nashville gets their shit together, which doesn't really seem like it's happening anytime soon.

They're also playing pretty well. They're top ten in goals, near top ten in goals against, top ten in possession, near top ten in PP%. PK could use another shut down guy but they're in pretty good condition all things considered.

I don't really expect them to do much in the post-season but as things stand they would play the Ducks in the first round and would anybody really put it past a Randy Carlyle-coached team blowing a playoff series against the Oilers? I wouldn't.

I'm going to put my money where my big mouth is - If the Oilers make the playoffs, I'll donate $100 to Canuck Place for Kids. If they miss the playoffs, I'll donate $50 to Canuck Place for Kids. Either way, Canuck Place will get some cash from dash.

If the Oilers make the playoffs I'll donate 50 bucks to my local liquor store. That is all.

That may not be enough to get rid of the foul taste in your mouth. I know I'd need to spend more.

If you didn't know he played for the team, I think most people would look at this picture and think why is the stick boy in the middle of the photo?
