That's still a good trade. Chances of Pearson becoming a productive NHLer again are so slim.

A better GM probably would've gotten the Habs to retain a bit I guess.

things I like about the trade:

- we needed to move a winger, no two ways about it. there just wasn't room for everyone.
- was done before camp, so no distractions about waiting for the shoe to drop (affects Boeser, Pearson, Garland, Myers, etc)
- no salary retained (guess that's what the 3rd was for)
- Deshits only one year deal
