Since you mentioned

Since you mentioned Theismann I wonder if he is having second thoughts about giving his blessings to Haskins to wear #7.
I can't imagine he wouldn't have 2nd thoughts. I thought it stuck from the beginning. Never liked the idea of DH asking for an unofficially retired number of a former Redskin star.

Good point and just another sign of immaturity and selfishness on Haskins part.

Was once upon a time chill. I haven't been in that sports bar in two years.

I did like having the best QB in Washington since Joe Theismann. I also thought he was the correct pick instead of Griffin which is how it turned out. Then too I like a lot of former Redskins .... maybe my special power is rooting for coaches and players we should not have let go of. I like seeing Dan's faced rubbed in it. You have to think it is funny that since the Redskins decided not to sign him that they have had 5 or 6 QBs who wore the number 8.

I was not as down as some on CDC until they paid him way too much money. I think that was Bruce trying to show Kirk I can get a guy for $3 million less than you. It was a bad contract.

Now I was not for DH. First red flag, Dan wanted him. Kiss of death before he ever played a down.
Cant argue any of this, though RG3 in his first season, before the injury, was pretty freakin’ electric.

I seem to remember enjoying brad johnson’s time in Washington and some of Brunell’s.
On the other hand, memory is often sepia-toned, so what the hell do I know?

Why is it selfish n immature on Haskins part?
2nd time offense
Contractual breech with the Shield
Playoffs in the mix, health of QB1
Coach high risk after Cancer
Might cause COVID sitdowns for other players
No thought of TEAM, only self

Pretty narcissistic, immature and selfish to me

If you asked me who was the best QB before KC I would have said Brad Johnson.

Griffin in a then new offense did pretty well. It took the league by storm. However, KC was QB in the Cleveland game and also helped bring the team from behind in the Baltimore game .... later won by a great kick return. So I have Griffin as 8-6 that year, not bad and by Washington standards damned good.

Why is it selfish n immature on Haskins part?

When I played sports my coaches told me to pick out a jersey number and make it famous rather than picking out a jersey number that was already famous. Rather than doing that, Haskins requested permission from Theismann to wear his number. In my opinion that was not the right thing to do and it was a sign to me that Haskins was all about himself. To me that is immature and selfish.

Most of the list is questionable

The only thing that matters is he violated league policy 2x

I am a 2x Covid guy , I followed what the guidelines were . Still got it ,

the facts are 99.6 % of the population are not going to have an issue with it

I am aware of no deaths from the NFL circle meaning active employees .and people who currently support the NFL and their teams

his breaking the rules for employment bug me much like the guys using marijuana did .

I can't front. This sounds a little like unnecessarily piling on Haskins. Could it be selfishness him wanting the number 7....sure, I guess. But there's also a handful of other reasons none of which are really selfish why he wants to number.

No doubt that was selfish, immature and plain ol' fuckin stupid to go out to a strip club or any type club. And do so while not wearing a mask. That wasn't what I was asking about.

tomcat said it was selfish n immature of Haskins to ask Joey T to wear the # 7. That's what I asking about. Why is that selfish n immature.

Asking for the number is just that - asking for the number.

Partying without masks is selfish an inmature.

Maybe Theismann will say to the next guy who wants his number, “Earn it, rook.” I’d be cool with that.

Aaah, I think it’s a definite maturity issue in that it placed Theisman in a no win situation public situation regarding his unofficially ‘retired’ number.

I get that it Might not ring the bell for younger fans who don’t have the history of the franchise held as dear to their hearts.

Perhaps far as placing Joey T in awkward situation. Like chiller said though. I just see it as asking for a number. Athletes can be funny or have superstitions. I know some have worn the same number since Pop Warner or Little League. Regardless, for me personally its way down on the list for why I think Haskins is a triflin dickhead.

I disagree in the sense that Haskins didn’t know what the NFL would do. They could have suspended him without ever getting any sort of Covid positive result. They could’ve disqualified the quarterbacks if he or one of those people were positive. (It happened to Denver.) Etc. And then if he did get it, spreading it to the team. It’s not really can he get it and if he gets it does he suffer or whether he spreads it to someone else do they die. The part that hurts the team is that they didn’t know what would happen to their playoff chances, etc.

And I know all of this can happen going to the grocery store - it isn’t something inherently about him or someone else - you can get it even being careful. But it’s like when a football player midseason gets hurt playing basketball, people say that you could get hurt slipping in the shower. But... maybe don’t play basketball during the season?

How could anyone who really likes our team be considered to be piling on Haskins? We are all responsible for our actions and Haskins has proven more than once that his actions are not acceptable when it comes to being a professional in his line of work. In addition to this he has become a major distraction to our team that is on the verge of being a playoff team. Why is this so difficult for you to understand?

Washington has been pretty stingy over the years when it comes to retiring jersey numbers but I feel confident that number 7 worn by Joe would be a retired number if this were not the case. To be honest I think Haskins was disrespectful to Joe for even asking him if he could wear his number.
