I agree with 43 on this one. First glance I thought it was an awkward fall, but he deliberately went towards the vulnerable player. If the fall was from his legs getting taken out, he wouldn't have went that direction. Quincey doesn't have a history, but still this was a dangerous play and needs to at least be looked at.

I'm not Quincey's biggest fan, not by a long shot, but I didn't think what he did was suspendable. 43 said Quincey noticed someone was coming after him...this is a really fast play into the boards, Quincey's not going to look down at the guy's skates, see that "oh, he's losing balance now he's a defenseless player" and not defend himself.

Question: If Quincey had made the same gesture towards Anisimov's chest and Anisimov was NOT off-balance, is the hit clean?

I would say no, still. He glanced and saw that Anisimov was actively being checked. Whether Anisimov was falling or not, you do not hit a player being checked by or fighting for position with someone else.

And you certainly don't lead with an elbow.

Quincey didn't set out with the result in mind. But he did a bad thing and it needs to be punished.

Pretty much this. I almost wouldn't mind Quincey being out a couple of games too, just to see how the Wings do without him. So thats just my perspective.
