I think you could argue Drake Maye was a project but he wasn't getting much support in college

Of the QB's taken I would agree he is the biggest project of them all. He still played in 30 games during college.

Chris Simms is a known idiot, he’s spewed a lot of dumb shit over the years about various players and has been wrong many times. I don’t care what he says, one of the worst commentators out there. Maye does not have quite as much experience as the other QBs drafted high this year but he still started for 2 years and put up strong numbers and led UNC to winning seasons. Richardson wasn’t even good in college, he had horrid accuracy and didn’t even put up big numbers in his one year leading the Gators to a 500 record.
Yep. In my opinion Richardson is the most unproven player to ever be drafted in the top 5 and has some of the weakest college numbers of any high draft pick ever.

He was a combine phenom. He can throw a ball really far and is an elite athlete. But when the ball is snapped and he has to make reads and throws in tight windows...he's meh.

Would have been an overall better player had he applied his athleticism at a different position.

You could make a decent argument hes the second best athlete at qb ever. Fields is a touch faster but no where near as big. Vick is still 1.

For AR to be effective you would have to design a very unorthodox offense around him, issue being is hes one snap away from injury and that offense going in the trash because no one else except Lamar or Fields could run it.

The Problem with Richardson is the arrogance of the coordinators & coaches.
You give those guys a QB with all the physical attributes of a Richardson. They believe they can mold them into an all star QB.

Which has yet to be proven ever!
But coaches believe they can coach up just about anyone. So if they can start with a QB with all the physical #'s, they are starting ahead of everyone else. Which merely shows their Arrogance.

They also think they can make him fit their offense. Rather than building it to suit the qb.

The draft makes everyone look stupid but Simms probably has the best hit rate with QBs and I also mentioned Kurt Warner.

Still not as dumb as the Niners trading up for Trey Lance.

old man flacco gives them better leadership a qb.

To what end though? A worse draft position? Colts aren't going anywhere with their horrible defense (28th overall). Does anyone expect them to win a playoff game if they manage to get there?

If you ask me.
They waited one half to long.
Good Chance if Flacco played the 2nd half they win that game & that would've put them in 1st place in their division.

The red flags were very clear on Richardson coming out of the draft. They knew he was a major project and should have sat his rookie year and possibly this year as well to learn and start year 3.

but
Coaching arrogance is a powerful thing.
They did the same thing with Trey Lance who had very little college experience to boot.
The list is probably long actually.
Kyle Boller. See all his power?
yeah but he is not QB smart.
So I can teach him.

Agreed with what you said and I also lay blame with the FO cause I'm sure being a top 5 pick they want that QB to start immediately.

yep. They definitely want sell the product (new car smell) to the fans, but also take advantage of those rookie contracts.

Steve Young and Matt Stafford both had 3 wins total after their first two seasons.

People might want to pump the brakes on Richardson having no future.

Only recent outliers GB with Love and ATL with Penix. So far I say it's working out for GB and Penix we'll see probably 25-26 season.

I get your point....... but
you just named two teams that werent far removed from 0-16 seasons.
Colts had fairly well rounded team when he took the reins. A little bit different.

Troy Aikman had a 1-15 season his 1st year. Thought I would help you out :becky:

well even the Pats were smart enough to wait half a season before going to Maye. I doubt maye was ready on week 1.

A lot of advantages of having a rookies sit for a bit, instead of throwing them in the fire to crash & burn.
Mahomes sat a year. That looks great now.
