Colton Orr was feeling in the pink on Friday, at least by the colour of his skates.
Toronto’s tough guy winger was breaking in pink-accented skates as a show of support for breast cancer awareness and for Saturday’s game against the Rangers, in which Camp Trillium will be recognzed. A children’s cancer support centre, kids from the facility will be the team’s guests for the day.
“Any way I can support awareness for any kind of cancer, I’m willing to do that,” Orr said. “I thought I would try this out. You’ve seen several athletes do it, such as (Islanders’) Rick DiPietro with his pads.
“So many people have been affected by this and a lot of people in the NHL and the players are involved.”
The pink skates will be auctioned online after the game.
