When a runner goes out of bounds, when does the clock stop until the next snap in the college. I know that it only stops until the referee sets it and whistles it ready for play early in the halfs.
At some point either at 5 minutes or 2 minutes isn't supposed stop until the next snap?
But watching a number of games this seems to be very inconsistent. In one game I saw the runner go out of bounds, and the referee stopped the clock and the referee restarted it at the set. This was with 56 seconds left in the half. It was a first down. Instead of spiking the ball to stop the clock the offense was calling a play because they thought the clock was stopped on the out of bounds.
Variations of this seem to happen in many games.
Is it different from the first half to the second half.
