Sorry if this has been posted gents, and I don't have a link unfortunately.

That said, this morning on the Colin Cowherd show (around 8am PST), he said that out of the 4 remaining teams (even though they were all very close), that the 49ers were the best, most complete team left. He said [paraphrased] "They have elite defense, elite special teams, elite running game and a QB who doesn't make mistakes and plays very well at home."

Pretty cool.

He's finally come around after not giving the 49ers enough credit for 3/4 of the season.

Yup. I think Brian Billick changed his mind a little bit in regards to Alex Smith yesterday.

Oh yeah, he also said that the 49ers had "elite coaching" as well. I just thought it was nice because I wasn't aware that EaStPN even knew that teams out here existed except for the Tebows.

I was listening to the show and he still picks the Giants to win. But he finally did say Alex Smith is no longer a punch line to him. Here is a link to what filosofy was talking about.

Herd Hierarchy - ESPN

Here is another link to him picking the Giants. Skip to about 3:09 to hear about the Niners/Giants but the whole segment is really good. Really good stuff about the Patriots with Darren Woodson.

I was actually listening to him a little bit & he teased a segment saying, "How huge would it be if the 49ers won the SB?" Didn't hear the segment, but it's nice to finally hear the National speorts media talkin' 'bout the Niners! It's been too long.

Other than Siefert has a rookie Head Coach ever won a SB?

cause at this point, its earned.

early in the season some here wanted national coverage (hey, even Harbaugh), but you can't blame the nation for having doubts. based on our last DECADE, you can't blame them.

at this point, still prefer less coverage, think we'll do better with the "dog" mentality.

Brian Westbrook had some interesting things to say as well about when he was with th Niners. Here is a link to his segment.

Brian Westbrook - ESPN

There were also some things Westbrook said off of the air. He said that Singletary coached every position through the prism of a linebacker. He didn't know how to coach other positions so he did like everyone was a linebacker, and he preached intensity above all. He made guys fight for their job every week. This sounds good in theory, but when you are worried that every mistake you make is gonna get you pulled you will not play well. He saw that with Alex Smith. He said he watched his confidence crumble as the season went on with the way Singletary handled the QBs.

all who supervise others in whatever jobs we do, can learn something here.
human nature is to criticize, berate, and talk badly of others; but positive reinforcement should be our first thought.....wherever possible.

its hard to see things past our own 'linebacker' mentality, but being "open minded" is a good start.

I Agree! So I think that is a worthwhile soapbox to stand on...

Managing & motivating people is not easy. That's why people in charge usually make more money.

There's a time for both negetive & positive reinforcement. I don't think Sing lacked anything as a motivator; he just wasn't any good at the rest of it.

Believe me, they're really hoping it doesn't happen. If the 9ers take the Lombardi home, there'll be a huge E. Coast media buffet featuring all kinds of recipes for crow.

btw Don McCafferty and the Baltimore Colts won the Superbowl in 1970-71, the year he replaced Don Shula who went to Miami. It was their second Superbowl in 3 years, so Shula had the program pretty well set up before McCafferty got there.
A caveat: in the '71 season, the Colts again got into the playoffs but were shut out in the AFC championship game by Shula's Dolphins. In '72 the Colts lost 4 out of the first 5 games. The front office wanted to bench Unitas, but McCafferty refused and was fired.

So if Harbaugh wins it all this'll be the first time a rookie head coach took over a losing team and wins a SB.
