Man, as good as Cole was in Houston I just really wonder how his personality will deal with playing in New York.

So Yanks guarantee Cole $324M over next 9 years and Mariners currently have a total team guarantee amount for next 9 years of $83.3M. LOL!!!

Yeah was sweating that one for awhile now...

Right they are feeling the pressure win now when Trout and Ohtani are still in their primes. Even if they sign Rendon and another good starter nothing will have the same impact Cole likely would have. Most things dont go the Mariners way, this one did fortunately

I would like the Mariners to buy low on Archer but that would make too much sense so they wont do it

Too bad MLB doesn't have a salary cap. Min/max would be nice.
5 of the top 10 in team salary made the playoffs.

agree to a point. The gap between haves and have nots just widens a bit more. Especially in the AL. Thats why I dont see why the M's should rush their rebuild like they are reportedly doing

I'm not sure a cap is the answer but further revenue sharing would be good, the Dodgers and Yankees make 3-5 times more just in their television contracts than everyone else. Small market teams are punished for being small market. In 2018 the Yankees had a revenue of $712M that's more than the A's, Rays, Royals, Reds & Orioles combined. That's an unfair advantage.

I agree with that too.
Something needs to change the gap in team salaries. $158 million difference is nuts.
I'd suggest something like:
Min - $80 million
Max - $150 million
The big market teams would still have their advantage and still spend more. Then once that is underway, they could see more clearly how to adjust the revenue sharing.

I have always been a believer that all revenue should go in a pot and be portioned out by place of finish and not be rewarded by how low you spend or how low you finish. I mean just image a sports league that has to compete for prize money like winning really matters. That would be different...
