Guess they didn't feel he could come in and win as is. I can't say I'm shocked. Hopefully Harrison can be ML ready in September.

That's terrible. With all the guy has gone through to get ready for his return and now knocked out with a bone spur in the hip.

Would love to see Lewis back, but after giving up Olt, I'm betting the Rangers pony up for Garza and plan on a rotation of Yu, Holland, Garza, Harrison and Perez next year with Ogando and Feliz joining Soria in the back of the pen. That would be the best staff in baseball IMO, but Colby would be missed for sure. I'm looking for a Profar for Cargo/Bautista type move in the offseason, along with a FA bid for McCann and a return to the World Series. With the FA losses, injuries and suspensions, anything this years squad does in the playoffs is sauce for the goose

True ... but still making $2mil. TEX will keep signing him to that deal. Keeps him from wandering off.

Agreed, Lewis will probably be back on a similar contract, and should probably be back close to the start of the season

Just say no to Bautista, everything else I'm good with

Texas Rangers Colby Lewis (hip surgery) to miss rest of 2013 season, but aims for 2014 return | Texas Rangers Blog

Would have been nice to have had the option when the time comes. I always figured with the delay getting back his best spot might have been long relief or spot starter in a Game 6 or 7.

J.D. says TEX would like to see him back in 2014 ... and no reason for TEX to not be positive as possible. Doesn't hurt anything. It's not like he is tying up a 40man spot on the DL.

I'd love to have him back too but i wonder where he would fit assuming we resign Garza.

Yu, Holland, Garza, Harrison, Perez, Feliz (assuming he is back to his self), Ogando

Feliz and Ogando probably go to the bullpen, Lewis' main competition would be Perez, and given the injury troubles we had this year, you can never have too many starting pitching options

Would love to see Lewis back, but after giving up Olt, I'm betting the Rangers pony up for Kershaw and plan on a rotation of Kershaw, Yu, Holland,Harrison and Perez next year with Ogando and Feliz joining Soria in the back of the pen. That would be the best staff in baseball IMO, but Colby would be missed for sure.

Fixed :)

I wish him the best but the reality is that it was an extremely slim chance he could come in and contribute his way into our top 4

Ha, Thanks, and you're right. I was going to say Profar for Stanton, but that's one I think will never happen. I think JD knows just how good Perez and Martin are, and isn't going to include them in the deal with Perez. It will be interesting to see what the plan is for Profar, keep him or trade him.
