Seems like just a short time ago:

So, on Saturday, my Brother In Law walks up to my son who is tapping away on his phone.

"Hey, what did you think of Star Wars?"
*shrugs* "Haven't seen it."
*incredulous* "You haven't seen it?"
*tapping away* "nah"
"Well, are you going to see it?"
*shrugs* "Maybe"

I could see that dear dear Brother in Law is concerned or disturbed by this revelation.

Mrs 43 comes to me laughing about a half hour later recounting an interaction with her brother where he started out asking if my son was grounded or otherwise being disciplined. Apparently, he felt that was the only acceptable excuse for not having seen it yet. She explained that he just hasn't seemed interested. Which was, apparently, far worse than us punishing him. He actually raised his voice and said "But he likes Star Wars, doesn't he?"

She said that when she explained that he has only seen 4 of the movies and everything he knows about Star Wars came from Lego games, he almost had a heart attack. She said she felt like he would have handled it better if she told him my son had converted to Islam. He was bitter the rest of the weekend seemingly because his only nephew really doesn't give much a shit about Star Wars.



Damn. I wish I knew how to raise children correctly.
