Those casualties are from the Normandy campaign, not just D-Day. Those are stats through the end of August 1944.
I should note that this doesn’t discount how many men were killed and disfigured on D-day and how bad planning and errors on the day contributed to more of the casualties throughout the campaign (particularly the scattered airdrops of paratroopers) but in comparison to other allied invasions throughout the war D-day and Normandy were probably as good as it got.

In particular, there were some sadists planning the Pacific Theatre basically from start to finish. A lot of needless death happened in Italy. The Dieppe Raid saw more casualties than all of the D-Day landing zones besides the two American sectors.

A considerable number wound up in Argentina and Chile.
You forgot Brazil!

Seriously though, my buddies now ex-wife was from south Brazil. She grew up speaking both Portugese and German, and the town she lived in had Germanic culture and architecture prevalent. We asked her about her German heritage once but she declined to talk about it.

Good movie though.

Southern Brazil already had a large German diaspora before the war.

Definitely grew a bit in the late 40s though.

Very true. There was a very large and mostly undocumented influx after WW2.

RIP to those that gave their lives at Normandy, and all of the WW2 Allied warriors.

Wow. The only thing that was missing was the shot at the end of the guy standing in Moscow between the two Russians as this started to play...

The thing i liked best about the video was not the stance he took (although it was great) but his northern italian accent whicj reminded me of sitting around a dinner table with my dad and uncles as they shot the shit when i was a kid.

Just the pointed emphasis and hard r rolling on 2 words

Merrrdah
Crrrretina (latin origin of the word cretin) lol

Lets hope they actually do something....checks notes....GA is ran by republicans so it is status quo.
It would be awesome if Stacey Abrams puts this on blast and rides it to the governor's mansion and sink Herschel at the same time.
