Might not be staffing shortages but is managed by Wal-Mart.Mate, when there’s a mile long lineup at security and there’s 2 of 6 checkpoints open I don’t think that’s because someone’s taking too long taking their laptop out.
“The GTAA said these delays have been because of staffing shortages, specifically at customs and security checkpoints – issues over which it continues to press the federal government.
But Transport Minister Omar Alghabra told reporters last week it is rusty travellers – returning to flying after the pandemic – who are causing delays. “Taking out the laptops, taking out the fluids – all that adds 10 seconds here, 15 seconds there,” he said.”
And that same issue is what slows down the whole boarding process. People waste so much time trying to jam their luggage in the overheads. Nothing is more annoying when an overhead is closed since it is full and someone comes along and opens it looking for space for their luggage.^^
The delays at airport security are certainly most caused by staffing shortages. That said, people are also checking less bags and opting for more carry-on luggage which also is slowing things down.
I hate bringing a carry on but the last few flights it’s taken two hours+ for the bags to show up.And that same issue is what slows down the whole boarding process. Oh I hear you! It seemed everytime I flew from Pittsburgh to Atlanta, if I had to check my bags, they ended up in Birmingham. Since it seemed everyone flying through Atlanta except me was on a connection, so the bags just tended to go with the plane. Granted I haven't checked my bag on that flight in years, but I don't do the extended stays anymore.I hate bringing a carry on but the last few flights it’s taken two hours+ for the bags to show up.
Meanwhile job postings for airport ops positions are offering $21/hr lol. Good luck with that.
Aldi cashiers are making one dollar an hour less than that here.Meanwhile job postings for airport ops positions are offering $21/hr lol. Good luck with that.
