Granted during the civil rights movement they did like calling MLK and others communists.

Many were. Parks attended CPUSA meetings and civil rights activists were prime targets for both domestic communist organizers and, almost certainly, NKVD/KGB agents.

That doesn't mean that Parks or any other civil rights leaders (particularly MLK - man was way too religious to have much sympathy with commie doctrine) were either hardened Marxists, secret CPUSA members or outright Soviet spies/actors themselves, and there definitely hasn't been much beyond a few meetings to implicate Parks herself in anything like that, but in all likelihood there were people in those movements who had contact with the KGB and received help from Moscow and there's an outside chance some went beyond that.
