Well, this is really sad to share, but a close family friend of ours who is a police officer died over this past weekend. He had been suffering from mental health issues and killed himself. His wife was one of my wife's closest friends at work. He was a police officer for the DC Metropolitan Police on the SWAT team and had seen some tough stuff at work, including being at the insurrection on January 6th. He leaves behind two teen boys and a devastated wife. It was a tough weekend, we spent a lot of time with the family, and the challenges they are facing are tough. Losing a father like that is awful, but suicide just brings another dimension to it. Gunther was a great police officer, a good dad, and a standup guy.

After not so much as a local mention of this over the weekend, it just blew up into a national story today.

The downside of that is that the attention and media calls are not really helping the family right now. Last thing they need.

On the plus side, it's helping with the fundraising for the memorial and supporting their family with the loss of their husband and father. If any of you all would like to donate or share the GoFundMe on your social media, I'm sure they would appreciate it.
