She was "probationary" because her boss decided just before Christmas to reward her for managing to do her job well during all the distraction and promoted her up a pay band. When that happens to for a federal employee, you are marked "probationary" for the first six months in the new role/payband.

Probationary doesn't just mean new hires.

A lot of people don’t realize that about the probationary/promotion thing. It truly does suck.

Personally, I tried hard to get a job with the government, only to be terminated illegally after 4 weeks. On the plus side, I have been reinstated, with back pay, placed on administrative leave ( paid vacation) only to wait for a legal RIF. Maybe this crap can drag on in the court system for a couple years so I can retire.

I only hope she can get reinstated, glad you at least got that that much and I also hope it lasts for a few years for your sake.

She was working for the State of Md DNR and wanted to get into the fed gov't because it was more "stable".

Will say in the primary I voted for Kenyatta, not Lamb or Fetterman. During that primary they made it out like Lamb was a DINO, ironically it became Fetterman. Granted I had to vote for Fetterman in the general election, if not it would be worse -- Dr Oz.

Now it seems Lamb will have a strong case to primary Fetterman in 2028.
