The lack of empathy is just amazing. The local paper posted an article about federal workers in MD losing their jobs or facing job uncertainty. About a quarter of the 15 reactions so far are laughing emojis.
Whether your think the federal government is too big or too wasteful or not - these people didn't do anything wrong. Laughing at or mocking them is just showing everyone you're a terrible person with one button click.

I'm not surprised, they've done a great job with their messaging that people in government jobs don't do any work of note and are just leeching off the rest of hard working Americans (or Canadians as the same messaging is making its way up here as well).

They'll learn in about 6-8 months what all these lost employees did for them...

And the effects thousands of workers had on the local economy. Maryland alone has and estimated 325,000 federal workers. Who knows how many in VA? Imagine if even a quarter lose their jobs suddenly

Maryland is gonna take it really hard and it's not just the people in and around DC and the burbs.

Social Security Administration has a ridiculously huge operation in Baltimore County. My mother in law worked for them and two guys I used to work with at Comcast are there now in IT. One of the deciding factors in me leaving was the Base Re-alignments and Closures moving tens of thousands of people from across the country to work at Aberdeen Proving Grounds and crowding the hell out of my small town. I know that Health and Human Services has a lot of people there around Johns Hopkins.

And that's say nothing of all the stuff around Ft Meade and the NSA. Or the Coast Guard and Navy...

I love watching the Prime Minister Questions, and often wish we had something like it in the US. If you've never seen it, the Prime Minister of the UK stands up in Parliament and anyone there can ask him a question. It is usually incredibly partisan and the opposition only attacks the PM, but he has to stand there and answer every question. I often laugh to myself imagining Trump answering any question up there in front of Congress.

The first question tonight was something along the lines of "When you made this decision that hurt this group of people (I didn't understand the reference), did you do that on purpose or was it a mistake?", from a conservative MP of course. Punched right in the mouth out of the gate.

There would also be a certain entertainment in his bootlickers asking questions too. "Mr President, how does it feel to have the biggest, strongest hands of any President in history, and does being such a macho super-man ever get tiring?"

White Lotus tonight had two people appalled another voted for Trump. Angry tweets at 2 am forthcoming.
