We’re unique in that we’re at risk for that reason but we also have far fewer alternatives to remain sovereign and if we self-inflict massive economic harm given our already precarious fiscal situation I don’t know that we survive anyway.

And then what happens?

I’m not saying one way is right and one wrong but the fact is we are the only ones who put anything retaliatory into effect. Like I said at the start of this we’re on a pretty lonely island here.

I don’t think he’s at risk of losing support to PP at this point but enough of these dumb miscues and Jagmeet’s going to get back into deep enough support to start splitting votes and giving competitive ridings to the Cons.

Jagmeet already waved the flag and asked people to just help re-elect sitting MP’s. There’s a chance he starts moving back up here.

I already think once the French debate happens the Bloc will get some support back in Quebec. He really can’t afford to be coughing anything else up.

i don't know man. This is absolutely unprecedented behaviour from what was once our strongest ally. I do know I do not want to rollover and actually would rather die than become an American under his rule. I am hoping that we are working hard behind closed doors to solidify trade with other countries to compensate, I understand that doesn't happen overnight and may even be used for votes but we need something else other than trusting Trump to be fair

It’s a shitty position to be in. Just not sure making it shittier short-term isnt going to result in permanent shittyness.

What also stinks is there’s more bi-partisan support for what’s going on than first meets the eye. Whitmer, for example, has been trying to shit on Canada for a while now and yesterday this was her:
