Car history nerd alert

The original beetle, the KdFWagen, was a scam dreamed up by Hitler to promise a car, highways, jobs and even a vacation time share at Prora on the sea. The idea was, German citizens were promised the KdF (Strength Through Joy) scheme as long as they volunteered to to buy savings stamps, and once you had enough you got your car. Essentially giving up salary to the war effort without them realizing that is what they were doing. Hitler then built factories to make weapons and vehicles under the guise of building the cars, and highways to move military gear under the guise as a place to drive your car. Not one car was ever delivered to anyone outside the party. Only like 55 were ever built. The Prora facility had enough space to hold 400k people, and not one person ever went there without being under duress. Refugees of bombed cities and members of the Luftwaffe stayed there.

Once the munitions factory got bombed by allies, a British Commander found a car in the rubble and it was offered to British Leyland and some American car companies to make, and were declined. Then it was decided they would rebuild the factory and produce the car with the company being turned over to the new West German government. James May did a pretty great episode of Cars of the People on it.

Hitler apparently much preferred Mercedes cars.

The first thing that came to mind was what Tolkien wrote about Dragon Sickness. In J.R.R. Tolkien's works, "dragon-sickness," also known as "gold sickness" or "gold fever," is a metaphorical ailment that causes an obsessive love of treasure, particularly that hoarded by dragons, leading to greedy, illogical, and even violent behavior. I believe fully this is what they experience.

Can you imagine how they would be revered for turning their communities into a paradise for the people. How adored they would be? They do not want that. They want to control and stand above all. I often wonder if that was their goal from the start of their ventures for when Bezos started in a trailer? or when Musk was given his wealth from his family? or Trump his? Musk and Trump is more understandable when you are giving everything (born on third base thinking you hit a triple analogy < credit @puckhead ) and since they have never known struggle to earn they want the power and control more.

the inhumane conditions are alarming enough but the treatment is beyond what I thought they would do. mind you they did lock kids in cages the first time . im worried for my wifes conference in april in the USA

That's one place where Trump learned from mistakes of his idol. No need to build a super powerful military in secret when you can just appoint a like-minded lackey to take over a huge one that is already built.
