Cody Green

Ok here it comes. I tried to hold it in but I just can't.

All year last year all we heard about was how Cody Green is bigger faster stronger. Cody Green should be playing. Cody Green is our future. Cody Green is the next Vince Young. Cody Green had 86 stars coming out of high school so he has to be great. Hell we heard some of that coming into this year when trying to figure out who should start.

I hope this game yesterday shows everyone why he wasn't starting over Lee last year (I know he started 2 games last year). I hope this shows everyone why he has been demoted to 3rd string this year. I hope this shows everyone that high school recruiting stars don't mean a god damn thing when playing REAL college football.

Cody Green may be able to run fast after he gets going but he is not quick to actually get going. He was REALLY slow yesterday when he would decide to keep the ball. I love the way Cody has handled everything here because he talks to the media almost every tuesday and he answers every single question with grace and respect no matter how many times he gets the same dumb question, but for whatever reason he just is not a big time college QB. Now obviously it is not over for him because the light could switch on in the next few years and then you never know, but right now he is not anywhere close to what we need. When Taylor is out with and injury and Zac has a "tired arm" (for whatever reason) we are better off just having Rex be our 3rd string QB.

There I said it and I got it off my chest. Go ahead and rip away at me and my hatred for recruiting stars. (not star players but the stars attached to the players )

It's very true that stars don't give any insight on intangibles. They merely show basic athletic ability and stats which may be skewed due to playing in weaker high school divisions..

Intangibles being work ethic, the ability to understand complex offensive and defensive schemes, the ability to concentrate, the ability to show the similar performance at the higher level of play and at a level with players of similar speed and strength.
