What do you fellers feel is the weakest part of our coaching staff. What should or can we do to improve. I feel Cotton and Dobson is our weak point. I have no real answers for who we can get to replace them.

If anything dobson has proved his mettle in these last couple games. Our guys have been wearing teams out.

We are one of the best 4th quarter teams in the country right now.

It's really hard to complain and call for firings when we're on a winning streak.

Get blown out on national TV again. Then I will be singing the same tune I did after the tOSU game: FIRE ELS, FIRE PAPOOPY, FIRE COTTON, FIRE THEM ALL.

Cotton seems pretty obvious, yeah we have one of the top rushing teams in CFB but how much of that is the RB. Look what happens when we try and pass protect.

I just haven't seen any improvements with the line as far as getting a big push on the line of attack and leveling people. Now when our guards pull we can smash Lbs and whoever but that's to be expected when 300 pound guys are running at you with a full head of steam. I wouldn't say we have been wearing teams out when we have to come from behind to win. I look at a team like Oregon who's offense is so over powering and I ask what are they doing and what are we not doing to put up numbers like there's. 700+ yards against a usc D is impressive. If Oregon had a D they would be unstoppable. being a 4th quarter team is great but it should never have to come to that if we had a more physically over powering oline and that falls on Dobson and cotton

This^

And this ^

Is what I was thinkin'.

And as far as the offensive line push goes, maybe Dobson has been asked to condition them for stamina/endurance. Also, who's to say much of that is not a technique issue vs. strength/performance?

What I know about Dobson- he seems to be able to help guys meet their goals whatever those goals are. And since Bo is so happy with him, I'm guessing he generally does what Bo asks him to do.

Pass protection needs work.

Really guys, NU needs to work on fundamantals. Tackle better and fix the turnover problem (and somewhat the penalties) and NU is minimum 8-1 (Ohio St) with far better margin of victory.

I do still question Dobson, but how much of the D line getting owned is Bo having them play "contain", "bend but don't break".

The Rushing Defense (87th) is not that of an elite team.

Alabama 2nd
Oregon 38th
K. State 9th
N. Dame 11th
Ohio St 16th
Florida 10th
Fla St 3rd
LSU 12th

We're thin at DT. Our two guys right now - one should probably be playing offensive line and has chronic heath issues (Baker) and the other came to Nebraska as a 6'4" 225lb DE (Cam).

We're lucky to have those two because behind them is a train wreck of injuries and meh.

Ok great we have stamina, but so it seems does every defense we play in conference. Let's knock these guys out early and let the 2nd string carry us in the 3rd and 4th quarter. Stamina and endurance should go without question at a elite D1 program . Like I said let's knock em out in the first round and let our depth carry us late in the game. Instead of winning it in the fourth quarter let's win 4 quarters

I'd say...what depth?

Can't say there is a "second string". On either defensive or offensive lines.

If there technically is, how many of those are on the travel 70 for conference games? (I have no clue)

What do you know about dobsen he came fromthe mighty powerhouse of Iowa. And what goals getting our ass handed to us against ucla and tOSU and having 3 come from behind victories?

Dobson

the players are not conditioned well enough to play a full 60 minutes

years ago when TO was the coach he spent a lot of times in the weight room

and those that were most dedicated and hard werkers --played on Saturday

Els and Kaz for me. I definitely expected Kaz to make immediate improvements line-wise and that hasn't happened.

If the O' line gets better in both facets of the game then this offense will be even more dangerous next year. It's dangerous this year. They are better than they were last year.

NU runs the ball well. A lot better than they've run since Bo got here. Being able to run the ball is a good foundation when you have this rcvr corps. Elite teams can run the ball.

New Offensive and Defensive coordinators, one with 1.5 years on the job and one still trying to run Bo's system.

My hope is that they've spent so much time on X's and O's they didn't have much left to spend on fundamentals. That they can now build a 2 deep. If the 2 deep can know the X's and O's, then they can work on tackling, turnovers and penalties.

As a bonus: A dominant DT will rise out of the youth.

If NU can't get through Penn St, they'll be hot going into the CCG.

Using the Mich. game as a measuring stick, I'd say; A great majority of it. When Mr. Shoeless left the game, we pinned our ears back and went after the young fellar. I don't believe they changed offensive line personnel, so what changed? Our philosophy?

I watched that show Big Ten Elite that featured the '94 team.
Tom made a statement. He said: the previous years they were running a 3-4 defense which allowed them to get after the quarterback about 1/2 the time. Then we changed to the 4-3 defense and put speed on the field, which enabled us to get after the quarterback all the time, which helped tremendously.

Then they interviewed a former player that said, we moved our corners to safeties, moved our safeties to LB's, moved or LB's to DE's, which put speed all over the field.

I think the key parts to the story are:
1. Speed
2. Aggression
3. Kill the fucker with the ball
