I'm only looking at the Power 5 teams. The other schools are difficult to judge
because some of them will lose good coaches to a Power 5 team that dumps their
man.
btw...This isn't from some story, just my thoughts. (Expectations differ from school to school)
SEC...
Malzahn at Auburn. I think he needs 10 wins. Bama is flying high and with
the exception of his first year, Auburn is buried with 5 or 6 losses per season.
I don't believe they will put up with that for another season.
Sumlin at Texas A&M. He's like Malzahn. Great debut, mediocre ever since.
Those alum and fans have invested a great deal of money in that program.
He's another one in need of a double-digit win season.
Orgeron at LSU. If they would have gotten Hermann, he wouldn't even have
the job. They took the word "Interim" off his title, but I believe they still see
him as an interim coach. He's going to have to produce big-time to keep them
from looking again.
Mason at Vandy will always be iffy. He was lucky last year to get to a bowl.
His first couple of years was a drastic reduction from Franklin.
Bielema at Arky. I don't know if he'll be on the hot seat. Those folks seem ok
as long as they have a winning record.
Butch Jones at Tennessee. Last Year was suppose to be THE YEAR. It was. Another
year with 4 losses. I don't believe he can have a setback.
Big 10...
Ash at Rutgers. He took over a poor program and made it worst. I would think
he needs to improve, but then again, nobody ever said Rutgers has high expectations.
Smith at Illinois. He doesn't belong in College. Maybe those folks will keep dreaming
Riley at Nebraska. If they are okay with losing 4 a year, they could have kept Bo.
I just believe those folks want more and Riley wasn't exactly the choice of everybody
at NU when he got the job.
Pac12...
Graham at Arizona State. 2 straight losing seasons. He won't see 2018 if he
has a 3rd straight.
RichRod at Arizona. He built them up in his first 3 years and has gone downhill
the last two. LY was almost rock bottom. Even those folks want more.
Big12...
Bleat at Kansas. 2-22 can't put you anywhere but on the hot seat, but I think
he's done a good job. At least they were competitive in most games. His
record puts him at risk, but I think I'd wait and see with this guy, thru the 2018 season.
Kingsbury at Texas Tech. You have to at least pretend to care about the defense.
They are just ugly at times. I understand the favorite son and all, but that can only
go so far.
ACC...
Doeren at NC State. They almost pulled the trigger last year. He may need 9
to keep his job.
Ind.
Kelly at Notre Dame. I don't know...maybe their expectations have changed.
Maybe they have finally realized that this ain't the 30's and 40's anymore.
Too be honest...I'm surprised he hasn't bolted. He bottoms up again, he won't
jave to worry about bolting.
Just my thoughts. Let me know where I'm wrong or others I have missed.
