So LSU was good since 1980?

That's fucking funny shit right there. You had a short run of being above average in the 80's and that's it.

No, I didn't go to Alabama and if you are what LSU produces, I'm damn sure glad I didn't go to LSU.
I think it was '87 and '88 when Tommy Hodson was there LSU had a good squad. Not from memory but from what I head.

Screw you with the education comment, I turned out alright(ish). I will say the whole concept of needing to go to a school to be a fan is bull shit. Also the whole concept of people with degrees that try to slam people without them piss me off. I busted my tail for 5 years and my degree is gonna get me average pay. Majority of my family works at plants etc and will outearn me. Education does not always equate to intelligence. They are not synonymous.

These are great years for LSU?

1980: 7-4
1981: 3-7-1
1982: 8-3-1
1983: 4-7
1984: 8-3-1
1985: 9-2-1
1986: 9-3
1987: 10-1-1
1988: 8-4
1989: 4-7
1990: 5-6
1991: 5-6
1992: 2-9
1993: 5-6
1994: 4-7
1995: 7-4-1
1996: 10-2
1997: 9-3
1998: 4-7
1999: 3-8

9 losing seasons in 20 years = Good football team?

The only top10 team in that entire time was 1987, ranked #5 in both AP and Coaches.

At Alabama, we had similar records from 2000 until Saban and we call them the dark ages.

Losing seasons since Saban: 0
Ranked in the top10 since Saban: 7, 5 of them top5.

In only 2 seasons in basically the same time span(like 4 years less) as above has LSU not been ranked.

Maybe we just have different opinions on what good seasons look are.

In the 5 years Saban was at LSU he had 16 losses.

FIVE OF THOSE LOSSES CAME IN THE MIDDLE SEASON OF THAT 5 YEARS !

So he loss an average of 3 games a year. Is that awesome ? LOL

Considering what he inherited(15 losses combined in 98 and 99) I'd say he did pretty fucking good.

Also, LSU's all time winning % is .650, Saban's was .750 at LSU, and that's with having to clean up the shit Dinardo left behind.

You weren't Vandy bad or anything, but you were definitely middle tier type program. Good years here and there, but not the type of program that could maintain consistency the way top-tier programs manage.

I think Saban elevated LSU into a top tier program, and Les Miles pretty much made sure it stayed that way.

Which goes beyond just his football coaching. When I look at Alabama, he built Alabama into what it is today. Even if he quits tomorrow, what he built at Alabama is going to last awhile.

Alabama was no longer a top tier program when Saban came. Far from it. But, Alabama was willing to give him whatever he wanted.

As for the rest, I hate when cool people fuck up my shit talking.

Clearly, Coach Saban is a pretty good coach when he has the best talent on the field, and on the sidelines. No argument here.

He does seem to struggle though, when the talent is fairly equal.

Bama was definately classified as a struggling program around that time right before Saban got there. If I'm not mistaken 3 coaches in 3 years? I think Saban came back to the college game with a vengance. He was a good coach at LSU, he was a great coach at Bama. It has nothing to do with anything other than Saban was a better coach after he was humbled in the NFL. Hell he might have been signing Drew Brees away from still being an NFL coach.

He's 5-1 in National Title games.
He's 7-1 in SEC Championship games.

The best thing about Saban is he learns and adapts.

And yeah, it was a nightmare.

It's funny because I didn't want Shula to be fired. I understood why he was fired, but at the time I wanted to give him another year. After Dubose, Fran and the whole Mike Price deal, on top of the Albert Means stuff - I was just happy to have a coach who didn't embarrass us off the field. Plus, Shula coached during a time when were being penalized etc. We had a good year going in 2005 until Prothro got hurt(think it was 2005).

I'll never bad mouth Shula, but I was obviously wrong.

We were such a mess that multiple coaches turned us down before we landed Saban. Spurrier and Rich Rod turned us down. I was just reading an article about Saban being hired this morning:

38 Days: How Alabama Pulled off the Great Heist of Nick Saban

Hey dipshit, my argument was that LSU sucked until Saban came.

No jackass ....You said you remembered when you were a kid in a corn field shooting doves and listening to Alabama beat LSU every year. I proved that that didn't happen with the fucking matchups from the beginning of the 80s....It was 14-13.

So fuck off you dumb motherfucking Harvey Updike motherfucker that thinks he is a badass because a team of a school he never attended had some success lately.

You really are a dick...

Who gives a shit?

Apparently you do since you decided to respond to a question not directed at you.

But since you stuck your nose up his ass I'll explain...

I was trying to determine how old he would be....to match up with his story of when he supposedly heard Alabama beat LSU every year.

Now mind your business !

Saban had one good year at LSU. Saban is a great coach. Possibly the best ever considering the caliber of good coaches lately.

He did really good at forcing LSU to invest more in the program. That was a great thing. But as for coaching at LSU....he really had only one outstanding year.

Saban's first three years at LSU were much like DiNardo's last 3....

LSU won 6 times from 1980 until 2000 and most of those were in the 80's in the Perkins and Curry years. So 70% of the time Alabama won.

Pretty much every year.

Saban went to Bama in 2007.....

Why not include ALL the games up to the point he spread his magic seed all over Tuscaloosa ?

I mean did you stop hunting doves in that cornfield since 2000 ? LOL

What part of "Until Saban came to LSU" does your ignorant ass not understand?

I mean shit dude, were you an LSU football player or something? That would explain a few things.

Yeah they were the same. Except the actual records:

Dinardo's last three years: 16-18
Saban's first three years: 26-12

Also, Saban had a top 10 season and an SEC Championship. So not exactly the same.

until he took over the football program that could buy him the best players in the country without getting caught. An average to above average coach will always have success in Tuskaloosa.
Saban's career college coaching record is 210-61-1 and his career NFL coaching record is 15-17.
