the Patriots ever made. That's right one of the dumbest in their history, not re-signing Wes Welker. Then they compound this mistake by signing Danny Amendola to replace him. Tell me, how do you replace a slot receiver who had over 100 receptions in 5 straight seasons with a receiver made of fine china. After all, it's not like the Pats didn't know this guy is injury prone.

Whats even worse is the fact that many Pats fans were saying the Pats got the better of this assinine move. Their reasoning was Amendola is younger than Welker. Well how's that working out with the younger guy? From the looks of things he won't have half the catches Welker had last season.

Maybe the Pats management and coaches should have listened more to Brady instead of letting their egoes get in the way.

One more TD and I think Welker ties his career record

It's the dreaded double whammy.

We lost the production and gave it to a team we have to beat.

Sucks

Kraft channeling his inner Al Davis?

I lost count how many times AD pulled that stunt.

More like Belichick. and yes, you can lose your fastball.

You're telling me.

I kept telling them "take the keys away from gramps before he puts the whole thing in the ditch", but did anyone listen?

If he hadnt been 175 years old I would have been afraid a raider fan had a hand in his ultimate demise.

One thing for certain, he died with his boots on.

Sorry to get off topic.

I think the dumbest move they made was trading Richard Seymour. Might've cost 'em a SB ring.

Nonsense! Brady made Welker and prepped him up for Manning. Wes is feasting on the spoils. Brady converted Wes into quintessential slot receiver, make no mistake!
Peyton is a copy cat!

How's that for some briz material?

I think Wes made about as smart of a move as he could considering the Patriots were moving on from him. For his style of play to work he needs a cerebral accurate passer and there is only a handful of those in the NFL. Plus nothing like throwing it back in the Patriots face than to then go and beat then and possibly win a Superbowl with another contender. We shall see if that happens.

As for the Patriots I don't blame them for moving on. The Patriots are one of the best in the NFL on the business side of things in knowing to move a player maybe a couple of years before they go downhill quickly. This helps them to keep the Cap under control. The fact that the Patriots have only loss one game all season should be enough to show they are doing just fine without Welker. Now I would say if Amendola who has a very similar contract spends all of his time in NE on the injured list then there can be some talk but right now if Amendola can be back in time for the playoff where they need him most then I don't see the big deal of winning without even him on the field until the playoffs.

I was begging them to make this move and I am even more convinced it was the right decision now.

I think your final sentence sums this deal up nicely...they recognize greatness of Brady, but they (NE FO & BB) believe the system is stronger than the players thus didn't want to give Welker market value.

Pats miss gronk and AH way more than welker

thru 6 games

Edelman 41 catches for 411 yds

welker 37 for 378

getting amendola is looking like a waste though:suds:

I thought Danny (along with my plethora of other physical limitations, now I got a gigantic headache too) Amendola was your Welker replacement.

No. No one was a Welker replacement because we had no desire to have that role exist in our offense.
