I wonder if the plan is to platoon him with Eaton in CF? He used to keep pretty even numbers offensively in his splits vs RHP and LHP. Although, recently he's kind of morphed into a typical platoon type of OF. Last year hit .290 vs LHP and .246 vs RHP. Melky might wind up being our only every day player out there, or at least the season could start that way. He's probably an upgrade defensively over Eaton, at the moment.
He's a lifetime .293/.364/.457 hitter at U.S. Cellular Field, for what it's worth.
well ... jackson did play 22 games in rf last season (he'd certainly be a big improvement over garcia), but it could be that he goes to center with eaton moving to right. maybe even eaton in left, jackson in center and cabrera moves to right. no matter how it's configured i think it's a better fielding outfield without garcia. i think garcia should be given a shot at dh and start the other 3 in the outfield.
