Does Sterling still own them?

Cheapest bastard in the history of sports ownership.

The problem for the Clippers is that they just can't seem to get out of their own way!! They started out in San Diego and if memory serves, had a solid following even though they were never any good.

For some reason, Donald Sterling insisted that they had to move to Los Angeles and compete directly with the far more established and successful Lakers.

They end up in the L.A. Sports Arena which is a dump. Meanwhile, they started playing some exhibition games and a few regular season games at The Pond in Anaheim when it was still a new facility. They always drew well (usually better than at the Sports Arena, if memory serves), were invited to make it their permanent home and turned it down to remain in a city where they will always be 2nd class citizens.

Add to that, the fact that they have a history of getting some talent for a couple of years here and there and then letting those players go as soon as it came time to pay them what they were worth and it's easy to see why Lakers fans don't think much of the Clippers.

I might be wrong but I think they actually started off in Buffalo.

Yeah, from 1970-78, they were the Buffalo Braves and then moved to San Diego until 1984.

Yeah, I was just talking about the time that they have been in California and trying to compete for fans with the Lakers. They had 2 different cities that wanted them and would have afforded them the opportunity to build their own fanbase and identity. Instead, they want to compete for fans with the Lakers. Just doesn't make sense to me.

That's true, but it's generally how most teams are built. You have a couple of guys who can create their own shot and then everyone else has their roles or depends on those guys for shots.

Plus, they have more than those 2. Bledsoe and Odom could also create their own shots and to a lesser extent because of age and past injuries, so can Billups and Hill!!

The big problem for the Clippers, imo, is that Gasol and Z-Bo are much more accomplished players than Griffin and Jordan!! Once the Grizzlies started exploiting that, the Clippers were done.

My thoughts exactly. Gasol and Z-Bo are savvy vets who pretty much used their(Griffin/Jordan) strengths against them. They go for every ball fake or first move these two made, giving way to easy buckets or and 1 attempts

good one TF12 and oh so true....Sterling had every opportunity to move team to Anaheim create own fan base in affluent O.C. but noooo he was selfish 'cause didn't want to commute from his mansion in BH down to OC as one reason to watch games....
