"Analysis: Carson Palmer gave his heart, soul and body to make the Bengals a winning franchise."

That might be a bit dramatic, but Palmer did sign with the Bengals long terms with the hopes of turning the franchise around. He only signed his extension under the condition the franchise would change its ways. He's also had 2 significant injuries, one of which he rehabbed all offseason and came back even prior a typical injury of the nature takes to come back from. I have nothing but respect for the guy.

He also gave the opposing team the ball way too much...Leave it the "Professor" to be a tad theatrical. I do admire Carson for the good things he did while he was here though. It's beyond obvious that he would have been much more successful in a different situation.

We've surrounded Palmer with talent plenty of times, just because he may go to another team next year won't make that team a winner.

he's not peyton manning.

Dalton will be just fine I think. May have a Ben Roethlisberger type rookie season (but maybe more picks) with our offensive weapons and hopefully a little better offensive line as the season goes on. Of course he will not win as many games as Ben did his rookie season, but I think the stats could be similar minus the picks.

I knew he would be pretty far down, no reason for him to be very far up yet. I would rank him ahead of T-Jax still and whoever wins the Washington job. I'm still not sold on Kolb so I'd put them very close. Slight edge to Kolb just because he has had a few years under Andy Reid. Alex Smith is really bad too.

Yeah I'm not a fan of Dalton yet, but Tavaris Jackson is the worst starting QB in the league hands down....followed closely by Alex Smith. Dalton is rookie and is already better than both of these clowns.

I like what a guy on footballpros.com said and I agree, he has a skill set very similar to Joe Montana (and I am in no way saying he will ever be Montana) and Jeff Garcia and he says he sees him as somewhere in between the 2. I tend to agree with that.

He's clearly bottom five right now, but dead last seems a bit of a stretch......time will tell.....

Ummm I'd put Alex Smith and Chad Henne there too. Along with Collins.

Stretch? The only ones that are debatable are Tarvaris, the Redskins QB, and Cam.

Cam is clearly worse right now. So yes ranking Dalton dead last is a bit of a stretch imo. Time will tell as the season goes on.....

Dalton will be the only 2nd round rookie QB to start for his team in the last 10 yrs..
his preseason passer rating was around 50..

I have no issue with the ranking
