well....its a win i suppose....

1. the offense finally impressed me. they could sustain drives, while still using big plays. they still have some work, but we can see the improvement.
2. defense...what the fuck
3. taylor has passed for under 50% in every game so far....bad sign.
4. rex ya fuckers
5. i hope ameer is okay
6. the Oline needs to stay with the rotation that was used today. choi looked great.
7. aaron green looked great when he got his touches
8. braylon heard looked okay.
9. this secondary is pathetic. we need sanders back. now.
10. the Dline got a little bit more penetration this week, but still not anywhere close to enough.
11. martinez is still looking to keep it himself on almost every option. he needs to actually read the D instead of pre-determining what he is going to do.
12. we won....
13. we got damn lucky with a few of those calls.

One thing I noticed in both the Fresno St and Washington games are their QB's are dropping back 10 yds or more AND rolling out before they even look for rcvrs. So even if the D'line gets penetration they've got to run another 10 yds to even get to the guy. I think Washington saw the success Carr had with that and emulated it. Knowing NU has a young secondary and not likely to provide the D'line with "coverage sacks" like we're used to. Both Carr and Price have the arms to make completions given the time. They're pure passers.

Last week I criticized Martinez for not making the DE/LB commit to him in the option game. That was MUCH improved this week and he even held it too long one time resulting in an errant pitch to Burkhead. That type of stuff is going to happen from time to time. He also took one hell of a shot on that play, which he needs to be careful of, but that's option football. Taylor is learning.

If the DL can't get to the QB and he runs around all day eventually he will find a receiver to throw it to, no matter if its the best secondary of all time. You know my view point on those guys up front

Playing the two technique the way they do will not produce stats for the DL. It is not designed too. However, they could play it a lot better than they have.
