Duke Sports Information – Redshirt junior defensive end Chris Rumph II has been ranked the No. 2 returning edge defender in the country by ESPN.com. Despite only playing 505 snaps last season, Rumph II posted the third-highest pass rush grade in the nation (92.9) among returning edge defenders en route to earning Sports Illustrated All-America honors.


Rumph finished 2019 with a pass rush win rate of 30.8 percent and a pressure rate of 25.7 percent, both of which were the best among edge defenders and nearly 2.5 percentage points higher than second place. In Duke's regular season finale against Miami on Nov. 30, Rumph II finished the contest with a 95.2 overall grade via Pro Football Focus (PFF) and recorded 14 pressures on 31 pass rushes.
