This makes no sense at all except he couldn’t handle the pressure here!

I gave my thoughts on it on the other thread, but I feel like this may have been planned for a while. It makes sense why Jimmy Lake kept getting promotions, raises, and declined other job offers. It may have been known that Petersen would step down sooner rather than later.

Kind of selfish of me but I wish he would've announced this after the early signing day.

Kind of out of nowhere, but at least we aren't losing lake. won't know if he's a good fit for HC for at least a couple of years.

Petersen staying as an athletic advisor says this has been brewing for some time.

Only question left is does lake have the guts to fire most of the offensive staff? If he doesn't I won't be in favor.

Larry Stone did a pretty good article on the Seattle Times and seems to believe that the chances of Hamden being fired is now more likely than it was yesterday. I'm kind of repeating what I said in the other thread, but hopefully this means that Lake will go out and hire a strong offensive coordinator and allow them to take the reigns running the offense.

I don't know what the precedent is for this, but I find it somewhat strange that the UW Athletic department immediately gave Jimmy Lake a 5 year contract. Somewhat risky for a first time head coach I'd assume. Given the success that Petersen had, if Lake doesn't come close to replicating, it I assume people will immediately start calling for his head.

Not for nothing but, why not call down to Cal and offer Baldwin the OC job here?

Sure you can say its a lateral move, but UW has more of the national platform then say Cal now a days!

If Clay Helton is fired I would love to try to bring in Graham Harrell at OC.

I would really love to see an NFL type OC, someone that can put out a playbook that is open to everything known to the offensive side!

I was thinking about this last night and I think it might go back to Eason transferring here.
I don't think CP was all in, and might have had whispers in his ear about bring this guy home.
I think the mast exit in the QB's room after Eason was named the starter helped make his decision.

This guy isn't a 4 star/5 star coach, and wouldn't blame him. I've said it time and time again these kids are screwed up in the head sometimes with all this attention they get cause of these stars! Not all of them but a majority of them.
Look at the very late offer to Adams, Gee Scott!

He likes the diamonds in the rough and molds them into sometime!

In all honestly I hope he stays at this "advisory role" for a while and when Jimmy get's the NFL itch he slips back in and the program doesn't miss a beat!

Hot Damn! Lake going straight for it in the press conference. “I’ve always like to keep the defense in attack mode, now that attitude is gonna bleed all the way through to the offense”

Hopefully the defense starts rushing more than 3 guys.

Well I think Jimmy is the perfect guy moving forward!
He knows this program, he knows the kids, he knows the philosophy installed by Petersen, and he know's how to turn the heat up now on getting this thing over the hump.

If Eason returns next year, they are going to be in the playoffs!

I like your attitude, but god damn...

Brutal schedule next year too. Open with Michigan, @ USC, @ Oregon, @ Utah, @ WSU (not like that one’s mattered in a long time).

All things considered, you have to feel pretty good about how smooth this transition is taking place with 0 drama.

Also fortunate that Lake was still here considering he was offered the Cal and Colorado jobs when they were looking for their next head coaches, and decided to stay at Washington.

No recruits have decommitted yet, but we'll deal with these as they come.

The two you have to wonder about is coach Gregory and Hamden. I'm starting to have doubts any serious changes could occur with year 1 of the Lake era.
