Trade deadline has come and gone and this seems to be good news for us Chris Harris lovers (which might be all of us)

This seems to be a good sign that at least Harris wants to re-sign and we want to re-sign him. Obviously, not set in stone, but a good sign.

Apparently we had 6 calls for him and did not pull the trigger on any.

Raiders re-signed Brandon Marshall. I guess that is better then having him out of the game.

If he re-signs this looks like a great move, if he doesn’t re-sign then we look like idiots. A comp pick in 2021 doesn’t mean jack when this team needs help in 2020.

We are gonna need help in 2020 and 2021... But who knows if we would even get a comp pick for him. That is risky to think like that because another signing can cancel him out.

Hopefully he signs a 3 year deal.

I heard that we had 6 teams interested, but Detroit was the only one who made an offer and it was a 4th.

Denver was asking for a 2nd. No one wanted to pay that.

My source tells me the Eagles made the strongest push. I didn't hear about the Lions as one of the 6, but sorta weird considering they traded Quadre Diggs and were shopping pro bowl CB Darius Slay.

I think most teams would give a 2nd if he was signed to a long term and a reasonable contract.

He is still the same guy. I think he will be good for a while. I don't see a drop off coming any time soon. I hope we sign him to as long as he wants he is worth a huge Contract IMO.

I’d be shocked if Justin Simmons isn’t re-signed. Seems like a slam dunk mutually there.

Harris is not some physical freak he relies on smarts and great technique so his drop off is not that much of a concern imo

I love Harris, but Champ Bailey had a lot of smarts and technique too, and his effectiveness fell off very fast

Not sayin' I wouldn't like to see Harris back .. just not at Top 3 NFL CB dollars/years

I always thought of Champ as a very physically gifted corner. In my mind, more so than Harris. I have nothing to quantify this other than my empirical opinion.

That’s why I am calling for a 3 year deal. Harris is in his 8th year that would put him through year 11. Champ retired after 15 years could have played 17 if it wasn’t for a foot injury so bad that he couldn’t pass a physical. Bailey suffered his foot injury year 14. (Year we lost to the Ravens in the playoffs) struggled with the foot injury all of his 15th year. Retired after year 15 prior to not being able to pass a physical with the Saints due to his injury. He had 14.5 solid seasons before that injury playin at a high level. Sure, we don’t wanna give Harris a 6 year deal but ill gladly give him a 3-4 deal that is set yo smart. Make years 1-2 money heavy. If it’s a 3 year deal don’t have to get fancy if it’s 4 year cover your ass year 4 so that if he does have an injury or heavy decline year 4 isn’t hitting you hard on the cap. Just set the contract up smart. The years aren’t really the big deal. It is the way you set the contract up.

I’d love to see Harris and Wolfe extended. The defense is there. There are some holes to fill but functionally this unit is right where it needs to be. You keep the pieces in place so you don’t have more holes to fill and the team can focus on the offense and what needs to be added to make it function in 2020.

As bad as 2-6 is I am incredibly optimistic about the direction of this team. They’ve been in most games, and they’re clearly not giving up on this staff, Flacco excepted.

Don’t burn it to the ground, this team is close.

How close it depends is really on Lock. Our depth is one of the worst in the NFL. We lack toughness and heart on this team. Or oline is consistently one of the worst year after year. You hit on a QB it changes this fast. Look at the free agents Manning attracted when he was signed here. A good smart respected QB can turn things around faster then anything else in pro football.
