Saskatoon moving on might be bigger than some think. There were rumors that if the Blades lost their 1st round series Brayden Schenn was headed to LA.

Anybody know a good site that is streaming any of these games? Sorry if there are any posted, I just skimmed through this thread kinda fast.

I don't know of any, CHL games are very hard to come by online. Each league does broadcast all of it's games, but you have to pay for them. They're not cheap and the quality is meh.

I suppose as the leagues start getting closer to the finals, something may show up, but I don't know of anyone who does any live broadcast streams.

How has Cowen looked this post-season DD?

Just to give you an update, Cowen was a beast in game 5. He's playing as well as he ever has in Spokane and that includes the Memorial Cup season. He was great the whole game, but what really caught my eye was the last 90 seconds. The Chiefs were up 5-4, and during that time he stood up Chilliwack on the blue line twice and stole the puck once they got it deep two other times. Chilliwack didn't have one good chance to tie it while he was out there before the Chiefs got an empty netter to seal the win. He was all over the ice all night.

He's turned into a pretty solid offensive player too. He's never gonna light it up and be a 60 point guy or anything like that, but he makes solid plays and outlet passes and he does have a very heavy shot. I honestly wouldn't be shocked if he's in the hardest shot competition at some point in the future. He can really let it fly. He got 18 goals for the Chiefs in the regular season which is more than I thought he was capable of.

Looking forward to round 2!

(And go Tigers!)

This guy knows what he is talking about...Hey John, did Tyler Bunz get hurt, I don't see him on the active roster for the Tigers whan scanning box scores?

Yeah he got a concussion in game 1 IIRC. Devan Dubyk has filled in admirably though. I'm not sure when (if?) Bunz will be able to return.

You use to be able to watch any of QMJHL games online for free, 2 or 3 years ago. Now I think its about 6 or 7 bucks per game, or you could pay a large 1-time lump sum to have access for the whole season. I doubt you want to watch these games that bad but if you do I'm sure I can find you the link. ;)

This guy knows what he is talking about...

As long as its The Tigers and not Les Tigres then I have no problem with that. ;)

Who is the powerhouse in the WHL? Is it the Blades?

Correct on both counts...Etem slipped right through the Sharks fingers to the Ducks.

:L

I really believe that Wilson went into the draft with tunnel vision and said we're drafting Coyle and that's it. And so when Etem fell right into the Sharks hands, Wilson didn't even bat an eye.

Another thing that worked against Etem playing for the Sharks is his size (He's listed at 6ft but from what I've heard that's being pretty generous). Take a look at the list of draft picks that Wilson has made and you'll find very few players under 6 feet. It's one of the shortcomings of Wilson as a general manager. He's still in the mindset that small players can't play in the league and it's just not true anymore.

Sutter did the same thing passing over the small, but speedy and talented Tyler Ennis for the tall can't skate no hands Greg Nemisz. As soon as he selected Nemisz, I felt like doing the following:

:brick:

Hey, I can understand the logic picking a bigger talented guy over a smaller talented guy, only problem is Nemisz can't skate, has stone hands, and isn't particularly tough (doesn't three strikes usually mean you're out).

Sagnasty beat Guelph to move on to the second round (didn't Guelph used to be a powerhouse for a few years?) and the Whalers beat the Rangers to move on.

Good news!!

I kind of expected as much.

I see him as turning into Chara-lite. Not quite as big, not quite as offensive-minded, but a dominant presence nonetheless.

Thanks for the update.

Slightly off topic but since there hasn't been any games in the Q in almost a week I'll mention that the Q had their annual awards banquet last night.

Sean Couturier won league MVP, as well as award for best pro prospect. Jonathan Huberdeau was a runner-up in both categories.

Pix and other Pens fans will be happy to know that Simon Despres won best defenceman.

Former WHLer and unsigned Flyer's draft pick Jacob DeSerres won the award for best G.A.A.

Habs fans may or may not be interested to know that Louis Leblanc won "Personality of the Year" award beating out both Couturier and Huberdeau. I don't think anyone has any clue what this award was all about.

Bolts&Isles might be interested to know that Kirill Kabanov was a runner-up for the "Humanitarian of the year" award.

Former Red Wing (among other teams) and former Blue Jackets coach, Gerard Gallant won coach of the year for the 2nd straight year.

Round 2 can't come soon enough! Finally starts on Friday.
