Chip Kelly's 2015 Trade Offer For Titans' Second Overall Pick That Year

Chip Kelly's reported trade offer for Marcus Mariota utterly insane

Remember Chippy's attempt to trade up for Marcus Mariota last year? We knew he had to give up a huge bounty to pry the second overall pick from the Titans, but the reported deal he offered is insane. This is a type of deal you bargain for in some Instanbul bazaar. However crazy this deal was for Chip to offer the Titans, how dumb were they in turning it down? I mean, does anyone think Mariota is going to be some elite QB? That's the only reason why you'd refuse this king's ransom. Kind of like the Bengals turning down Cerrato's offer of two first rounders for Chad Johnson. Unbelievable.

Do we have any former Ducks to trade him? Or how about if a Duck falls to us? The player may not be one Chippy coached, but, hey, will that really matter to Chip?

Per Schrager, the Eagles offered the Titans their 2015 first- and second-round picks, their 2016 first-round pick, any quarterback on their roster and any defensive player on their roster in exchange for the No. 2 overall pick.

So are you saying Kelly was insane or the Titans for not taking that?

Honestly, it is a better deal than what we gave up for RG3.

Nobody on the Eagles defense is a true game changer.
They had no QB on the Eagles worth a damn.
We matched their picks given up plus we gave another first rounder but the Eagles had to move up a lot further than we did.

I would have taken that if I was the titans. Bradford, Cox, 2 first round picks and a 2nd.

You bet. And I'm blaming them for not screwing the Eagles for another decade. Jackasses, all of them. :)

If Cox isn't a game changer, he's close to one. If he balls out this year like he's done in the past, not sure if the Eagles will be able to keep him. He'll point to Olivier Vernon's deal and argue that he's entitled to a whole lot more because: (1) he can leave as UFA; (2) the cap will increase by more than $10M; and (3) he's far better than Vernon is. The Eagles may then slap the tag on him. Wonder if Cox would hold out then.

IM going to miss Chip in the NFC East. HAd they given him just one more season, I think he could have totally screwed the Eagles for the foreseeable future.

I don't think he is truly special. I think he is a very good player and better than what we have at the position but I don't think he is worth his next contract. He had a great 2015 but that is one season. If he does it again, then maybe I would agree.

I do believe he is close to one and if he has another season like last year, then sure. It is because of the contract Vernon signed that I wouldn't want him because he isn't worth that much to a defense.

Now I'm gonna have to hate on Tennessee. I wish they took that deal.

The question that will never get answered is. Had the Titans took that deal and MM went to the Eagles would Kelly still be there. I seriously doubt the Eagles would have won any more games with MM... possibly even less then they did. I wonder. Don't matter,, The Eagles with new coach will suck again with Bradford, Dallas has no pass rush and a breakable QB and the Giant's with their new coach will implode on schedule as they do so very often. Redskins cream is rising to the top.
