Tremendous loss for the chiefs franchise, he really was a special talent when healthy. Much obliged to give him that but it really is a travesty for the chiefs fans and franchise. Reggie bush much hyped, this guy was the real deal.

Its sucks but its the nature of the RB position.

If you have your choice between Eric Berry, Nick Foles or Jamaal Charles then you take Eric Berry.

holmes was a RB. he always was more or less. charles was a track star who learned how to run thru holes.

charles never averages 100 YPG in a season. holmes did it twice. (115 and 111). charles highs are 91 and 94 YPG.

holmes was a TD machine. charles...well he scored 12 once.
I dont hate you for writing this, but the highlights speak for themselves, say what you want about the guy but he fucked up defenses and lifetime football players and must be given the credit his stats deserve.

charles is a good back. a bit overrated IMO but good. double digit TD's once, never had more than 285 carries in a season. holmes went well over 300, three years running. holmes averaged about 10 more carries per game, in his prime than charles did. charles high is 17.8 carrier per game. holmes once had 24.5.

I look at them differently, Holmes was absolutely a northsouth banger. Jamaal was just a tremendous talent to me.

I feel like you're missing out on what he brought in the passing game a bit and again, Holmes had a much better supporting cast. I think the comparison is much closer than you are suggesting.

Larry Johnson-Charles
Charles-Thomas Jones
Charles-Peyton Hillis
Charles-Knile Davis
Charles-Knile Davis Charcandrick West Spencer Ware
Charlles- Spencer Ware-Charcandrick West

Team made a pretty concerted effort through multiple regimes to split his carries up- and follows a leaguewide trend of killing off the bellcow which with AP's departure is for all intents and purposes complete. It's largely an apple and oranges argument to use Holmes' carries against Charles.

dont get me wrong. i saw both play. i had holmes in fantasy for those glory years. im 41, ive watched a lot of football since the pats first SB in 86 when i was 11.

id take holmes 10 times out of 10 over charles, regardless of surrounding cast and eras.

If you include Charles catch TDs, he had 33 TDs in 30 games at one point.

Granted, Holmes had 51Tds in a 2 season stretch playing with a top 3 TE all all time and the best Oline in football at the time.

I would take Holmes over Charles, too, but its mostly because of the fumbles difference.

pure running ability and instincts
lack of fumbles for holmes
more punishing runner
better receiver IMO
im pretty sure holmes was a better blocker too (i know that was a knock on charles early on)
better goal line back (see down, touch)

im not following...
In 2013 Kelce had a microfracture which basically knocked him out the entire regular and postseason. Still had Fasano- but yeah, Anthony Fasano.

2014 Kelce's snaps were deliberately limited coming off of microfracture.

2015 Charles tore his ACL.

2016 Charles tears his meniscus
