right, well they can't be that bad considering they're still in celebration mode. however FA is looming, along with the draft, and they gotta move some salary. CapGeek.com - NHL salary cap calculator, buyout calculator, free agents and more!
that's their cap situation...dire. apparently they're up to move basically anyone who isn't kane/toews. big buff is for sale. price? a 1st and prospect. and he's only got 1 year left at 3mil until he's RFA. should be an interesting offseason in the Windy City.

They're hurting, but, it's not like they'll be losing much of their core. Between rookies, rfa's, and ufa's that could be had for cheap to go to the defending Cup champs, they should be alright this upcoming season. Just going to have to convince some 2nd and 3rd liners to take 3rd and 4th line money as 3rd/4th line money and playing time in Chicago would be better than 2nd line money and playing time in somewhere like Nashville.

i just think they're gonna have to make one of those painful trades. a guy like buff or sharp or versteeg is gonna have to go. JMO though...the GMs know their way around better than I.

I wonder if there's a GM out there who is thinking something like, "Yo, Chicago, I'll take that albatross Campbell contract off your hands, and send me three 1st round draft picks over the next three years.... I will send you nothing and you'll like it".

hahahahah, that's kinda what i'm thinking though. like the Buff news. they want a first and a prospect??? well, chicago's not in the right spot to really negotiate. they don't have an upperhand. i mean...shedding salary sucks because you get a sucky return. should be interesting. personally i wouldn't mind picking up a guy like sharp or buff. just sayin' GMRS...just sayin'

Don't think Soupy fits the pugnacity, belligerence and truculence factor...although he did lay out more than a couple nice hits in the postseason.

True, but Kessel isn't exactly a "Burke" type player either. Maybe Toronto could figure out a way to give the Finger to Chicago?

I'm thinking that maybe Dale Tallon is looking to claw back some of his former Hawks with draft picks + prospects...

From what I've heard, the ousting of Tallon wasn't very pretty. I doubt he's looking to do the Hawks any favors.

Oh I agree Eddie, but with that insider knowledge, maybe he knows what buttons to push to get a deal done.
