Point taken on "it could be worse"... but given the evidence from this year, you have to wonder if Buck Showalter, et. al. are really "good enough" for this team from a long-term standpoint.

As I've said previously... we might as well call up everyone and use only the 3A players in September. I think this could be a good idea for two reasons:

1. This would build a larger sample size to evaluate talent and to start preparing for 2014; and
2. There's a good chance that they might actually out-perform the starters.

I don't see it happening... but theoretically speaking, sweeping Boston and Tampa Bay in the 9/17-19, 9/20-23, and 9/27-29 series would almost guarantee the postseason. Buck just needs to be willing to play everyone and replace players at a moment's notice when necessary.

great idea, after a decade and change of losing we should fire the manager that gives us a season and a half of unprecedented over-achievement. most people agree that a great manager versus a normal manager makes the difference in five games all season. this team isnt five games from winning a world series no matter what stupid trend you somehow believe is more than indicative of a guy who repairs franchises.
