It seems like both teams are trying to do a power play against their respective cities to force them to have to give them a new stadium and well unfortunately for them Oakland and San Diego just don't really care that much about football at this time. Which is crazy to me as Oakland used to be one of the craziest football towns in the country but hey 12 years of losing football will do that to a city.

I can't see two division rivals sharing a stadium. One would have to switch to the NFC.

Some of the idle chatter had the raiders or chargers go NFC west and moving the rams to the AFC west. I would enjoy that because it means I can see two broncos games in person each year.

Yeah they wouldn't be able to keep them both in the AFC West unfortunately. I have heard both the Seahawks and the Rams in the discussion for moving to the AFC. Right now I still consider this more just the teams trying to play a game of chicken with their cities and really hoping they swerve first as I don't think they actually want to move.

I don't think the NFL really wants them (or any other team) to move there. The owners would lose their bargaining chip.

Now if by some miracle this did happen, I would think it would be either Cardinals or Rams switching places with the Chargers. No way they break up the Broncos-Raiders-Chiefs troika.

The NFL's 20 year plan is nearly done. It has become blatantly obvious (either planned or accidentally fell into this) that the NFL has used Los Angeles as leverage to force cities to pay for new stadiums with tax subsidized dollars.

How many teams (Broncos are included) threatened in some kind of way (either implied or flat out stated) they are moving to LA? Bowlen did this pretty early on, when he went so far as to take the D out of the helmet.

Here is a quote (Bowlen did deny he would move the Broncos to LA, but the threat was out there) from a paper back in 1998.

Once again, folks, let's look at the situation. If the stadium-tax
extension was voted down, we would see EXACTLY the same thing happen
here as what happened in Cleveland. The team would move, we would
commit to building a more expensive stadium at 100% our cost -- just
to get an expansion team, we would go five years without any NFL
football, and when we finally did get a team again, we would end up
suffering through the losing of an expansion team. In the end, where
would we be? We would be worse off than we would have been if we had
voted for the stadium-tax extension in the first place. That's great
logic, Brad! I can see why you hate Pat Bowlen so much! Maybe you
could run for mayor -- straighten out that Federico Pena
Boulevard/snow removal thing.

Please do not kid yourself. There was a massive push for the city of Denver to pay for the stadium and they did. Anyway, how many teams did threaten this move? Many.

The Chargers are probably the last team to make this threat. They are trying to leverage the city to pay for a new stadium. Qualcom stadium is a 50 year old stadium and is one of the oldest in the country.

The NFL has certainly used Los Angeles vacancy to their advantage. Also, do not get sucked into the notion that the public receives proportional revenue to what they have contributed to the financing. Please, do not be so naive.

BB32 I actually agree completely that they have used LA as major leverage for years. I think the issue this time around is San Diego really could care less about their football team. I mean I can understand as I have been to San Diego a couple of times and that place is just down right beautiful so Sunday afternoons you can either spend $200 to go watch a football game or go to the beach for free. Anyway I think this could be one of the closer situations where the team tries to push the city like we see right now and the city says "good luck in LA."

Right now it looks better for Rams returning and everyone else staying pat for now.
