Changing the All-Star game?

The two captains should be Henrik and Daniel Sedin - Nothing like an all-star game to determine who the best captain (and player) truly is.

I really doubt the players will be offended if they're chosen last...I'd hope the only effect it would have would be maybe a little motivation to play hard.

Yeah I dont think so either. Being chosen last still puts them among the top 10% of player in the league. Besides, we already have guys being chosen last for each conference anyway. We just don't necessarily get to see who they are, which may or may not remain the case under this format.

As for the throwing sticks suggestion that some are saying. Well I like the complete randomness of it but we would still need a method to determine whose sticks get entered into the pile to begin with. Also I guess we'd need 3 piles for forwards, d-men, and goalies.

I do think there would need to be some sort of incentive beyond bragging rights for the captain to pick the best players though and not simply pick his friends or teammates. That's my only real concern about this format because I'm not sure what that incentive would be.

Teams made up of the most skilled hockey players in the world? Let them work it out... I'd love to see Mike Green playing as a forward (insert joke here), Datsyuk trying to play defense, or Ovechkin lining up at center. That I might actually watch.
