Changing the All-Star game?

I watch everything but the actual game, unless I have absolutely nothing to do, I'll watch it. The skills competition is where its at.

I agree with this ... just somehow expand the skills competition and ditch the game

they tried that a couple of years ago. Some drills that no one quite understood, with nausea-inducing ice-level camera work following it.

it would be interesting to watch who gets picked first.... and more interesting to see who gets picked last.

I agree with sabresfaninthesouth... if you are going to pick teams just throw the sticks in the middle and do it the way we did as kids.

Team Toews vs. Team Richards. Would Richards pick Crosby, given that he always falls down so easily?

They should have an "All Goalie Game", where both teams are made up of goalies throughout the league. The only catch would be that the Netminders for the game would be Avery and Holmstrom...

i think that would be really cool too.. only problem is when you have a SCF captain that has a real bad down year the next year, or one of them is hurt..

I am pleased by what I am reading here. Every year on the other board it seems like a lot of posters really liked the All Star Game the day afterwards, some even thinking it was good hockey. I am pleased most here think its the suck fest that it is.

Ok the players pick Malkin and Ov to be the captains. It comes down to Kopitar and Sid as the last two left and Malkin picks Kopi. Ov gets upset and asks if he can just play a man short.

what I mean by that is will they pick best players or best friends? Either way whoever gets picked last is going to be upset. I think it is bettter that the players don't know who gets picked when.

I think I would pick all 6 goalies and run only 3 lines. :p

If the captains are Crosby and OV I refuse to watch because it will just be another attempt to cater to the US....Ok I'm exaggerating I would still watch, but it really would lame if they are chosen. Captains from the SCF's would be perfect.

Per the article in the first post

The captains of each team will be voted on by the participating players, and those captains and alternate captains will draft their teams as part of a live event in Raleigh during All Star weekend.

sounds like they are going to line up on the blue lines and pick guys on live tv in NC.
