I don't know how anyone can suggest we get rid of Murray. After this year's rendition of 'Pussies on Ice', he is at least the consistent physical presence. I have no problem in relegating him to fewer minutes or teaming him with someone that would compliment his abilities (rather than the other way around), but until we get someone who can match his intensity & physicality, get off his case. :boxing:
I know what you're saying but the guy gets beat repeatedly due to his lack of footspeed and is a liability on the ice when he's not being physical. Perhaps the fact that the PK sucked so badly took away from his wanting to be aggressive. Slotting him in as a 3rd pairing dman is the right thing to do, but then you'd have a third pairing dman being paid $2.5, which is a bit much. He isn't one of the big problems, imo, just one that is easy to solve (trade).
This is the same problem with me wanting to trade Clowe. Him and Murray are pretty much the only intimidating guys on the team. They just have shortcomings that hinder the team play when they aren't being physical. Murray is slow and causes his partner to have to cover for him. Clowe is one dimensional. Both are entering the final years of their contracts so keeping them around and reaping the benefits of a pending UFA can help the team too. Trading them for valuable assets is the right thing to do imo.
