Sad day to see one of the best Broncos of all time being released. He has been a great player and a class act throughout his time here. Its too bad he won't finish his career here but can definitely understand why we are parting ways with him.

Totally agree. Hadn't heard the news till I read your post, but I found this: http://www.milhehighreport.com/2014/3/5/5476110/report-broncos-releasing-champ-bailey

The way he played from '05 through '07 is the GOAT CB play, in my opinion. I know that a lot of people think that Deon was better, but to me that ignores just how good a tackler Champ was in run support and how averse to tackling Neon Deon was. In any event, too bad that we were never able to build a team when Roland Bailey was in his prime that was worthy of his nickname.

I think the world of Champ but the truth is fans like me will miss him a heck of a lot more than the team will. I wonder if they hit a impass and Champ or the Broncos wasn't willing to budge or if the Broncos just decided to move on. Elway and Bowlen are a class act and maybe they're giving Champ a chance to test the market while leaving the door open for a return. In any case he's a all time great. One of my favorite plays of all time was the pick of Brady in the '05 playoffs. Champ always played hard and I enjoyed watching him........

Absolute drag, and I hate to see this happen, but I understand it.

I just can't believe he wouldn't take a huge pay cut to stay, so I'd have to believe the Broncos are just moving on.

With this happening, are there any chances we're just doing this will the intention of maybe offering him a vet minimum to come back? I guess that's the only sliver of hope I have left.

I might be more depressed by this than our loss in the Super Bowl. Champ has been the classiest of class acts in the NFL and couldn't be any more proud to have had him represent my team for the last 10 years. He provided me with some of my favorite memories as a Bronco as HOF-Elway-7 talked about. Champ you deserve the greatest of Mile High Salutes.

Only thing on that play I wish one of those two guys running with Champ would have nocked Brady right on his butt.

Nice Morph. Been a hell of a ride with the Champ and I hope he ends up resigning with Denver this yr so he can retire and be celebrated as one of the best to ever wear a Bronco uniform. Major class act and although he didn`t get that SB win, he did get there at least.

I'm also holding out hope for this. Do you guys think this is even a remote possibility. By all accounts, it seems he wants to stay in Denver, but will he do it for the vet minimum. I honestly can't see any other teams going too far out out on limb to bring him in.

I read that too and read a couple peoples reaction on it and it makes sense that JE did not want to insult Champ with an offer (see Urlacher last year). It possibly left the door open if Champ comes back and says X team offered me this, will you match it or come close?

Good call, and I understood that more as I read. Kinda makes sense to take this approach for a guy who's done so much for you. Interesting....

Still hope he lands back in Denver.....however unlikely :thumb:

Big ups to Champ anyways. He'll go down as one of my top 5 fav Broncos ever.

Can't say it's surprising, still sad though. It's always tough to watch age catch up to great players. Champ's 06 season is still the best I've ever seen a cb play. Poor Champ suffered through some pretty lean years, especially on the defense, but he was nothing but professional and classy always. More than anything I wish the Broncos could have gotten him that ring. Best of luck to him wherever he signs (just please don't sign with some team I hate!).

Yah...his 2006 season was incredible. He was runner up DPOY that year to Jason Taylor, who had an insane season.

I distinctly remember that season being Champ's best though. He was a beast.
