And they want 150 million from the feds

I think the CFL is pretty close to the bottom of priorities

Easy to say.

To somebody living on the prairies it's a pretty big deal.

Lot's spin offs on the job side if it dies.

I think they give it to them. Not a lot a deep pocket owners like with the NFL.

Meanwhile hockey is frantically trying to figure out how to save half a season.

CFL wanted a bunch of money from the government to survive the covid pandemic and Trudeau said "uh hard no on that one." :dhd:

I'll be more disappointed if the NFL season doesn't go ahead as planned tbh.

Ya I guess there is a point there.
I just dont know if this is also the CFL looking for a life line. It was borderline they would survive another 5 years

If I was them I would try the NFL. Make some kind of call up system or something

Likewise I'm sure. But I'd watch it over US college football, which I don't waste time watching either.

The prairie provinces live for it.

And it is a significant employer with all sorts of downstream effects.

Hockey should give up. Write it off and move on.

And I didn't hear the Feds said no, just that they were discussing it.

With all the coin flying around these days, $150 million isn't much. You could barely sign one NFL QB for that for 5 years.

Not gonna happen. Different games. You'd never get the NFL in Winnipeg or Regina.

And it would make no sense for the CFL to allow players to leave in mid-season.

I know it's not relevant but
How well would a NFL team do if one were to locate to Toronto or Vancouver?

Toronto had the Bills playing here for a few years and it was a failure

They charged very high prices.

What they underestimated was there are tons of NFL fans but not everyone is a Bills fan

Personally if we built a new stadium and had our own team it would take off just like every other sport has.

Toronto could likely support one. There is a big metro area to draw from even with the Maple Leafs around.

Not sure about Vancouver though. There are a lot of locals who frequent Seattle. But not 60,000 of them.

Toronto could easily handle an NFL team.....they had the Bills there on 'loan' but everybody knew it wasn't their team.....and nobody cared. Having said that, I don't think Toronto, or any other non-american city should get an NFL team.

Couldn't tell you about Vancouver. It kinda sucks for all sports it seems.

I can name one...Lee Bovin Mitchill. I think he still plays for Calgary and my buddy hates him more than Hammer hates Brady....talks about him all the time.

Why shouldn't the NFL expand beyond the US borders? Seems London is inevitable
NFL football seems popular in Canada. Seems a natural fit for expansion/relocation

I just think the NFL is too big for its own good as it is right now, and all this expansion to other countries is simply a cash grab. Because they can doesn't mean they should.

I tend to think the game is being ruined due to there being too much money

I'm not the one making a dollar on it so how much is too much as far as they are concerned.
What if they wish to relocate the Chargers to Vancouver and the Jags to London?
