BAM, LA has either used picks to obtain great free agents, or used picks to draft them directly. Even Pau and Nash only got to LA by using draft picks, and lots of them in Nash's case.

You ignore this fact constantly to breed hope it can be done now. I dont know of a team, even Miami who was ever built without using or giving up lots of picks.

If you know of a team that was built without those assets, I want to know when. What is your example?

They have predominantly used trades of players and FA's with select few trades using draft picks.

Bam,

Gasol, Nash and Howard trades, all required Lakers giving up First Round draft picks.

What team has built itself using free agency as a primary means (and w/o giving away draft picks?)

I really dont know of one. Every great team of today built through the draft
