I'm not mad at this. As long as we use #5 to get our QB of the future. It's not my ideal signing in this situation, but we should still have enough money to get some other pieces.

Kind of hoping we trade down to draft a stud RG and roll with Keenum, we give him the same type of line he had in Minnesota and we make the playoffs. Especially if we end up trading CJ for James from the Dolphins.

I thought the Broncos would get Cousins.

We're hearing that Elway is also in on LT Nate Solder. Texans appear to be committed to signing him away from the Patriots, but Elway can never be counted out.

Decent move. I don't see it as our long term answer (although you never know) but good safety net. Depends on the contract how much I like it, but if it's a 2 year deal then I really do like it.

But not official until tomorrow. So like when we thought we signed Osweiler, hang tight.

This could be an outstanding signing if he continues to play like he did last year, or a Rookie QB may need to step up if he goes back to his Rams and Texans days.

Could this give us the opportunity to move down with Buffalo and draft Rudolph and pick up another pick? Just a thought. Buffalo is looking to move up.

What are the chances he reverts to the Keenum that played for the Rams?

Sounds like a 2 year 36 million. Maybe some incentives in there too. I think Denver picks a QB.

I am good with the deal.

Why did we trade away a pro bowl cb? Thought it was to go all in on Cousins? Elway is losing his mind

I would say because the Broncos are being honest with where they are as a franchise. Even if say we signed Kirk Cousins the Broncos were not Super Bowl contenders. They were playoff contenders for sure but I can easily name 3 teams much more talented than them even with Cousins. They would have to have their draft class do what the Saints draft class did this last year for them.

So when that is the case you trade your aging pieces away for draft capital and start working to get your cap situation under control so when you do think your team is a piece or two away you can add those pieces. Keenum gives us a solid veteran (better than anything we put on the field last year) that will be playing in a similar system as he did with the Vikings. Broncos then if absolutely need to can have their rookie sit for a year or have some tough competition to beat out.

Throw in this deal with Keenum (hearing the first year cap hit might only be around $13-14 million) allows the team to go pursue a couple of other pieces possibly to bolster the OL.

Denver is rebuilding. Elway may not say that but in reality they need a lot of upgrades and a young QB .
Maybe Cousins did them a favor and allowed Elway to look in the mirror and say we are not one player away.

At a minimum we got Trevor "Heavy". They are calling it the "Spring Break" QB. If you go on Spring Break and have a great time you look on it as best time of your life. If it sucks , you do it again next year.

If we are going to be honest about where we are as a franchise then we would not let Elway anywhere near the draft room during the first 3 rounds. Keenum is a journeyman qb.

That is what the NFL is about. Knowing when to move on from aging stars. Elway at this point has done it right. What did TJ Ward do last year? The team missed him in the locker room and maybe a little bit on the field. Tampa Bay didn't get what they thought they would get out of him. If Talib goes to LA and has a down year Elway looks like a genius. If Talib goes to LA and plays at a Pro Bowl level for 2 or 3 years Elway looks like an idiot. I am ok with Talib moving on. I agree with DC the Defense needs to get an enforcer, but maybe we can get something at MLB to be that guy.

Sure is allot of negative people on here. Keenum was probably the best choice outside of Cousins. Do you really think a rookie QB was going to do better than Keenum? Keenum is young enough that drafting a QB isn't totally necessary. The Broncos haven't exactly been on fire in their drafted QB's.
