Question- the play in the first game when AJ struckout Jay. What was the umpire's explantation, and what should have been the correct call? I was in the opinion that Jay was out, and play was over.

If you swing and miss with 2 strikes and the ball hits you, its a strikeout deadball you are out, I guess the ump thought it went off Martin's foot.

Thanks, thats what I thought.What was confusing was that the Pirate announcers thought that Martin was arguing a foul tip. Its interesting that all four umps missed it.

seems like when he plays in spots, he hits better.
same as the second half last year. when they mixed in other options - harrison, darnaud, and whoever, barmes had a much better 2nd half the year.
