Man, I wish we could get "screwed" like that. Fitzgerald is exactly what we need.

Did you read the article or just the title?

Sorry to hear that Jerry Jones is calling the shots in AZ now.

That sounds like his way of "cap mgmt". he says "Don't care what it costs me in 5 years, get me cap room to waste today". :L

Even tbe greatest WR is useless without a QB and Offensive line.

That's what happened to the 49ers when guys like Rice and Young kept deferring their money through re-structure. When it finally caught up to them it was devastating.

When Carmen Policy and DC were in charge, they would bring in free agents and Policy would create these contracts that would defer salary cap costs. They piled up so much dead money it crippled the team for awhile.

Did you guys see Carson Palmer's cap number? $12M. That is huge too.
I would expect around $5M for an older QB like that.

This is where some of the criticism towards John York were unfair... Hard to run a franchise when you can't afford to pay good players...

That's probably one of the many reasons why they didn't send much in the trade.

He's a starting QB. They make that much money. Palmer is one of the lower-paid starters - at least of guys who are on a second or third contract.

Not really. I'd rather have him at 12 than cutler at 20

I would agree with this. John York deserves criticism for some things but not everything. Terry Donahue really messed things up. Both Terry Donohue and Dennis Erickson were recommended by Bill Walsh. It would be hard not to listen to Bill Walsh if you dont have a football background
