Captain Marvel Could Make Less Than We Thought Opening Weekend

Everything is coming in 'less' this year so far.

Awful winter here in the midwest, TV and video games are awesome, and movie ticket prices suck.

I think Captain Marvel would open relatively soft but if the general consensus is good then it might have some legs. I'm guessing it should be projected to make around what Dr Strange made so I'm guessing it'll be around $90mil opening week. Anything more than that and the movie should be seen as a success imo.

I will see it opening weekend because they strategically placed it where there are no movies to compete with it which is typically at the beginning of the new year so when my choices are how to train your dragon 3 and madea family funeral I guess I will watch Captain Marvel

I'm genuinely torn. I've seen most Marvel movies opening weekend, and thee few I wasn't able to, because of prior commitments like weddings and shit. But I'd be lying if I said the marketing and Larsons comments haven't disgusted me, as I predicted would happen when I first heard the announcement of her casting in the role. So, I may wait and not contribute to the box office total (as others are doing) to send a message a la Solo.

Solo was a shitty movie no matter what you thought the subplot was.

I feel like Guardians 2 and Doctor Strange are their worst movies. Thor the Dark world and Iron Man 2 and Iron Man 3 right above that. Not to say Doc Strange wasn't one of the best parts about IW, and Iron Man goes without saying....just, he's been better in group films than his solo outings.

Also Marvel was smart to make her the person to bring back the avengers now it is an added incentive to go and watch the movie to see how exactly she does it. But if this movie tanks and all the marvel characters are officially back a Captain Marvel 2 might now happen for a long time

You do realize the movies projected earnings keep dropping, right? Just like Star Wars fans boycotted Solo, it WILL make a difference. The movie will still make 100 million opening weekend, but that's far less than it would have and should make, and I expect further drop off after that. Hell, China may not even show it, though I expect Di$ney might make it worth their while to do $o.
