Caps vs Flyers Overtime GNT:

I walked in the door when the shootout started and surprise - surprise.....I watched goal after goal go sailing by Boosh like he wasn't even standing there.

I have played in leagues that 4 on 4 is part of it. It is like a totally different game, and I guess I just like a hockey game should be decided by....well normal hockey, if it is a tie. It is not that big of a deal because it is not a factor in the playoffs. I guess that I just find it kind of gimmicky. You have to break up a line. Forwards have otally different roles....

If you don't like it, I understand. But 4v4 does happen during the regulation portion of the game as well, so I think it is still "normal hockey."

I'd rather just see a tie (a deserved result from last night's game), but if not, I still like the idea of 4v4 for 5 minutes and take a player off every 5 minutes until a goal is scored. Still gimmicky, but closer to real hockey at least.

Fucking shootout. So lame. So the teams end the year dead even in the season series - each won one OT game and each one an additional glamour point.

Flyers
+ found the urgency and dominated play the last two periods, didn't win, but played the better game, continually impressed by Matt Carle, great puck movement/possession
- Bobo was terrible, PP was pretty terrible, Kris Versteeg couldn't put a puck on net

Capitals
+ win on the road with numerous starters out, appear to have 3 goalies better than any one on the Flyers' squad, never expected the tying goal after going down 4-3, Mojo was spectacular all night, won*
- Semin didn't wake up in time for the game, got up 3-0 and then totally relaxed (not the way we should be playing)

Very entertaining game all around. Unsatisfying ending though.

Not sure how you figure that but okay, Yes Bob sucked last nite but if I recall, didn't your MUCH better goalie give up 4 straight to? Just askin..

I never said "much," not sure where you got that from.

I have been unimpressed with Bobo long before last night. I don't think he's a bad goalie, he just seems average to me. Both teams gave up 4 goals, but the Flyers chances were of a much higher quality. Neuvirth had probably 10 quality saves last night, I think Boucher/Bobo had maybe 3-4. I just see a difference there in talent. And in terms of last night's game, it's hard to argue the goalies weren't the difference in the ultimate result - Bobo gave up 2 big softies and Boucher botched the shootout against a mediocre shootout squad. Neuvy gave up 4, but I can't see where he was at fault except partially on one.

Based on my observations, I think the Caps are stronger in net. The numbers favor them too. Just my opinion.

I hear what your sayin,although who knows. Would we have won if Boosh was in net the whole game? Boosh has been far the better goalie at home, don't know why Lava keeps tinkering. Bob has been horrible since the all star break. If he snaps out of it he can be very good..

Our team as a whole plays good enough to support our goalies, we just have to be a lot more consistant, I really hope your team woke mine up last night!

It's hockey. One night doesn't make it happen. But I think the Flyers will be okay. The East is going to be pretty wide open again, but I'd give an edge to the Caps and Flyers right now. Both really good hockey teams. Flyers have such depth at scoring (look like us last year with better D) and the Caps are following a pattern we've seen of the last couple Cup champs. Both dangerous teams. We'll see. I'm nervous.
