It's interesting to see your take on the system being implemented. So much stock is put into a coach coming in and using their own system...but if the team assembled already doesn't have enough of the "right" player for that system, is it fair to force it on the team? There are some systems that work for any group of players, but likewise there are systems that just don't work as well with players just not built for it. Grit is definitely the "in" system. It's been that way for at least 5 years now it seems. Everyone is shifting towards aggressive forechecking, fight for the puck, banging bodies type stuff. And that works, but not for everyone. And this isn't to say certain guys aren't TRYING to fit the system, but if you have an all-world talent sniper doing dump and chase, and being a corner battling type guy, that's not playing to his strengths. So, in summation my point is this: coaches can have their own system and all that jazz, but they HAVE to play to players strengths within that system.

I was curious about the comment they made on that post game show on Versus last night when doing hilites from the Caps VS Sabres game, twice they mentioned "What is going on in that Caps locker room?". Just seemed like an interesting statement to make.

So I don't know if they were just "floating" comments or what.

I agree with both of the comments made here about some coaches not being able to adapt to the talent they have and utilize their talents to their strengths.
