Thanks for the helpful suggestion in your email dated 1/17/2014. We met about the idea and discussed it at great length. We think it's a fantastic idea, however given that the game is in less than an hour, we felt that we simply did not have enough time to implement such a complex and multi-faceted gameplan, and decided we would stick with our previous game plan of "Let Ovechkin play and stuff". We have however shared your defensive scheme with most other coaches in the league and while everyone seems taken aback by it's complexity at first, it seems like with commitment and practice in a few years, someone might just be able to implement it. I guess the level of complexity is why no one has come up with it yet. You must be a hockey mastermind.

Quality period of hockey. Kind of a BS call on the Too many men (Unless there was someone else that subbed for MacKenzie too). Starting the third on the PP and they have pissed Ovechkin off. He is really sticking and whacking behind the play.

Not sure why they yanked Grubiedoobeedoo. I wouldn't hang any of those goals on him. In fact, I though his puck control and coverage low and tight was excellent.

Yeah, but you know how it just provides a change of pace sometimes. I agree he hasn't made any big mistakes or anything. I'm sure goalies hate that.

Jackets up 32-8 in hits tonight and it's not like the Caps are dominating possession to cause that. Kinda says it all. Caps look flat and tired. They have played a lot of games and had a lot of travel lately, but still, gotta bring more than this.

So (notorious tough guy) Calvert got the extra 2 for taking a forearm to the face while down after the fight?

It is crazy how hockey is more of a team game than just about any other game on earth, but one guy gets inserted into a lineup and big things happen. Jackets are 6-1 with five straight wins since Horton entered the lineup. And that 1 was the head scratcher that Richards started Tabasco when Bob was ready and against one of the best teams in the league.

Anyway, it's nice to see them get rewarded for the little things.
